Did my spec with the new one. I prefer the design of the original Taycan, which is way more like the Mission E. The new one looks more towards the generic electric car. It’s still a great looking car. But not as much as the original.

I think this simplified front fascia may in part be to cut costs. It may as well improve range. But I prefer a beautiful car over a few more Kms.

But as we know, soon the original will feel outdated just because there will be a new one around.

I too always liked the Mission E look but never the “running mascara on the corner of its eyes” (sorry but that was a what a friend described it the first day we went to a Porsche dealer to initially see one and can not un-hear that).

However anyone who owns either is so fortunate!

Yeah on the base it looks the same [with a three second reduction in launch time.] The price jump is likely due to the now standard features that used to be optional.

On the Turbo there’s a 200 HP jump.
Ah, gotcha! Yeah, it looks like they justified the base jump by adding the battery and air suspension plus some other stuff. Since the other trims already have air suspension, maybe the used more HP as part of their justification. I can’t even compare the other trims anymore because the configurator just buried the 2024s So I can’t find the full specs.

LOL. I just showed both pics to my GF and asked her which does she prefer? I prefer the old one (looks more aggressive to me) but she prefers the new one because it looks like the old one is sad and crying.

Someone almost ruined it for me by calling it a salamander. Fortunately, I was able to unsee it with someone else’s suggestion of pit viper. So I’m gonna go with that. It’s a badass pit viper! Hiss!

“Crying eyes” as my 5 yo daughter would call it was what made the gen1 design unique and special. Now with Gen 2 they made “crying eyes” exclusive to Turbo and up. Common complaint was base cars looked too much the same with Turbos, unlike other porsche models. This looks like an attempt to address that issue by giving a more generic look to lower trims. A step backwards for sure

“Angry Frog” is the most noteworthy one I’ve head.

Actually Taycan, especially the J1.I version, looks like Vaal, from one of the worst episode of Star Trek. My hope was that the refresh would distance the car from looking like this, and it did help a little I think.

I prefer having my Taycan look outwardly like any other variant, I'd always de-badge and dislike the monochrome Turbonite shields that now distinguish the Turbos.

Monochrome shields don’t make sense regardless. My favorite option has always been the $190 colored crest on the wheels, which completes the look.

Knowing life, Porsche is going to go the direction of design like BMW, and I won’t want to buy anything anymore. Will have to learn how to take the bus.

I would prefer to debadge too and turbonite spoils that. Maybe that's the point, not letting that free advertising get away.

If you'd never seen this car before, I will bet that most people would guess the second picture (original design) is the update. It's simpler, cleaner, unique and beautiful. Why change it to something that looks more conventional and way less intersting? Most of the other upgrades I applaud and understand, but what did they learn about the design in the last 4 years that makes them able to design a better looking car?

Feels like the forward looking view from cockpit would be impacted too. The humps are less pronounced so wondering if it will have the same iconic view looking out.

I can't get over those damn creases. Porsche is all about those sensuous curves. My wife laughs at how I talk about both 987 Cayman I had and this CT. It is the first thing I say: "The car has hips that make me bite my lip, like you, baby." When I saw the pictures of the refresh, I got angry. WTF all those creases for!?!?!? Where are all those sexy Porsche lines? I like Scandinavian minimalism in the house and the curves on the cars. Call me weird. But that is what I like. Happy with our Gen 1. Just like I felt 987 Cayman was it and they effed it up after with facelifts and 718.
