Hello world,

Very seriously considering placing my order for the Macan EV Turbo and trying to understand what kind of issues owner of the very first Taycan ran into.

I’m very familiar about the ones first Mach-e owners had but beyond software issues, not seen too much about Taycan.
And did these eventually get resolved?
Maybe there is a thread already about this?

My reasoning is PPE is brand new but the Macan is the second EV Porsche releases so they *should* have leant tons with the Taycan.

Thank you!

Many issues with early Taycan years with some still ongoing: Heater, HV Battery Sealant, to name a few.
I have a 2023 and I have not had any issues in 8 months of ownership and 5k miles.
Yes, they have learned a lot but Macan EV is a new platform with new OS (Android Automotive) with both untested at scale. I am personally not comfortable jumping on the launch edition of Macan EV. We could not wait any longer for it and got Macan GTS with a plan to move to Macan EV when it has been tested at least for 2 years and all major issues have been resolved.

I second that! To jump into the fire again with Caraid developing the SW is a risk. VW did not do very well with the ID3 and ID4 SW.

Now they have the PPE platform, which will evolve to the SPP platform in a few years. That is the time to get the new models in my thinking. The J1 and PPE platforms will soon be a dead end and obsolete. No further developments in a few years time!

May I add that one of the biggest issues is that you have to join this forum and will spend way too much time here…
I’m already keeping tabs on this one, the Mach-e and the Macan ones too. Too late for me. ?

It's worth reading some posts about owner experiences.
Just one example:
It's one thing to think: oh, HV battery red electric warning light, no problem, the car and battery are well under warranty. even if I need a tow.
And then realize the reality that just diagnosing the error may take a couple weeks and waiting for parts and certified battery specialist to fly-in to fix may mean your car sits outside on the dealer's lot for 3 to 4 months.
At least you won't be surprised if it happens to your Porsche EV.

Avoid 2020s. Most issues seemed ironed out by the second year on.

2020 has some “oh fuck” level issues.

This light got turned on and never turned off. Booked appointment already. Hope that they just need to restart the car

This is interesting, I had not heard about SSP.

Did some reading and based on my understanding, there is for VW:
- MEB: most of the EVs in in the group currently
- J1: Taycan (G1 and refresh this year)
- PPE: Macan (coming this year), Cayenne (next or following year) and Q6 e-tron (this year?)
- SSP: cars starting in 2027 from small to high end, the Porsche "K1" SUV (one size up vs Cayenne) being one of them

Meaning SSP won't ready for a few more years, assuming they are/stay on track. And given the softness in EV sales we're seeing, who knows what will happen this year, let alone 3 years from now.

That is a very valid point, also thinking that waiting 3-4 years to pull the trigger is a long while.

Oh not going for a 2020 Taycan, just trying to extrapolate how many "oh fuck" level issues to expect on a 2024 Macan EV.

If/when that happens - which I clearly wouldn't want to deal with - can't you invoke lemon law on it? Having to wait 3 to 4 months is not ok...

‘if you are not willing to deal with unlimited numbers of them then it’s not for you. Wait a year or two. Aka if you are asking this questions, don’t do it.

More like trying to make an informed decision and know what to expect.
Thinking of leasing it, get the $7.5k credit, and 3 years later, see what's available on the SSP platform without taking too much of a bath on the devaluation.
