What are we wanting from this car? I know it’s a few years away but I’m really interested in the direction they take this model in, especially since it’s set to share the same platform with the forthcoming BEV Panamera.

As a design person, I’m particularly interested in what they do with the interior. Maybe they’ll introduce a new steering wheel, or put the gear shifter on the central console à la 992. The rear windscreen will most likely be vastly improved. I just hope they don’t mess it up considering how perfectly balanced it is.

And who knows, maybe they’ll even introduce a coupe.

• Return manual charge port covers
• Combine drive/suspension settings into a single action that adjusts everything automatically
• Ditch the forced two-tone seats
• Increased rear visibility
• 992 style wing
• Make drive dial a button instead so your hand never leaves the wheel
• Make Exclusive Manufaktur fully customizable right in the configurator
• Make a GT Rwd model
• Make the area under the central console a charging tray
• Make Sport Chrono option only across the line
• Mission E-style doors
• Caseless headlamps
• Even more width
• Manual volume knob
• Real door handles [or at least less complex ones]
• Adaptive cruise standard

And, of course the dreamshot: Make a coupe.

Narrower.
Lighter
Return to switches to control functions, touch screens are demonstrably dangerous to use by the driver. The interior looks nice but is ergonomically mediocre, ergonomics is often the victim of interior styling though :(

Especially when you have multiple people working on said interior.
Many years ago I did the cockpit control layout for the active suspension I was developing for Formula 1.
I found each knob being a different shape allowed the driver to never need to look away from the road which was a big gain. It looked like a dog's dinner though.

Nowadays far more functions and everything on the steering wheel so it defaults to most used settings on thumbwheels.

I really like the Taycan steering wheel thumbwheels.

- Make it (a lot) lighter - even at the expense of not increasing the range
- Bring back more physical buttons, especially volume button but also heated/cooled seats and drive modes (when not equipped with sports chrono). Climate as in new Panamera and Macan is perfect. Don't go the way of Mercedes with capacitive buttons on the steering wheel or window/seat controls.
- do something about the atrocious design of the middel console opening. Cannot believe this wasn't addressed in gen 1.2
- improve the 4-zone climate control by adding vents in the B-pillar
- Improve camera system
- make a panoramic roof that opens and give it a shade
- back-seat armrest : current type is the worst design of any car. Cupholders in the middle of the armrest where you place your arm ? Come on !
- Improve suspension : although it is extremely good on good roads, the travel is too short (or not gradual enough) on bumpy roads. I often get hard hits from the suspension.
- give the boost function to all models, not just on launch control (as is optional now in gen 1.2)
- bring back a more unique design, gen 1.2 is just so bland.

- a rear view camera that works without having to clean it at the start of every day. Just daft ?

- phone connection that is rapid and seamless every time you get in. I have a long term lease through work in a Peugeot 5008 (overall a very average car) but every time I get in within 10s of starting up the phone is connected

- passenger seat memory as standard if you opt for memory seat on the driver side

and of course a 2 door coupe please ???

Absolutely! I’d also like them to fix the crazy wide field of vision. Once that’s sorted, an option of a digital rear view mirror would be welcome.

The changes I want to see on a future Taycan would essentially turn it into a Panamera …..so Porsche, maybe just release the EV Panamera sooner?

I think it's very obvious what the next Taycan needs to be or Porsche will crash and burn.
  1. Max 20kW charging because that’s the maximum any charger can possibly output so any more than that is pointless and offensive.
  2. 5 minute 0-99% charging. Possibly stretch that to 6 minutes, otherwise longer trips are simply not possible.
  3. Both CCS and NACS should be available on both sides and additionally in the rear to make supercharging easier.
  4. At least 900 km actual highway range, or 30,000 km WLTP, which of course is about equivalent.
  5. Less than 1000 kg unladen weight, otherwise it can literally only go forward in a straight line.
  6. It should have 6 gears and four motors.
  7. Only available as rear wheel drive.
  8. <1s 0-100kph.
  9. Should feature an actual Turbocharger.
  10. It should be a short two doors hatchback coupe with removable sunroof that can carry five people, two dogs and four child seats.
  11. The next Taycan should only be available as Sport Turismo styling.
  12. The PCM should literally be replaced by Tesla’s system, including Autopilot, dog mode and fart mode.
  13. There should be no touch screens whatsoever. Everything should be operated by physical dials and buttons. Windows should be hand cranked.
  14. No more than two buttons. Any more than that is too complex.
  15. Centre console lid that stays up when opened. Hah, just kidding, but one can dream at least.
  16. The electric sport sound should be an actual acoustic sound physically made by the motor.
  17. Should actually be an electric 911
  18. It should only be available in black, white and grey to combat depreciation.
  19. Should have at least 70 l gas tank.
  20. Remove all aerodynamic styling. It should look exactly like Mission E.
  21. Rename it to Panamera.
  22. Should increase in value by at least 20% every year.
Starting MSRP: €35,000, any more than that is an absolute scam.

IMO my 2023 Taycan is perfect, but some wishes in random order:

- Glass roof that can be opened
- Different interior color options
- An actual tow bar
- Vehicle to grid capability
- Sunglass compartment at left side of the steering wheel
- Improved hand rest in back seat, with a storage comportment build in.
- 230v socket in the trunk
- 12v socket in froot
