Received this notification just now:
The Porsche Charging Service continues to expand, offering easy access to over 770,000 charge points across Europe.

Dear Mr. ,

The GRIDSERVE Electric Highway is now on the Porsche Charging Service network. GRIDSERVE is one of UK largest high power charging providers, with more than 1500 charging points across the country.

You can now use your My Porsche App and linked RFID Charging Card or Keyring to pay for charging at GRIDSERVE locations.

Prices will be at the standard rates on your Porsche Charging Service contract.
You can find these by going to Account > Subscriptions > Manage Subscription.

Could be useful given I have a long drive this weekend.
How do I check the gridserve / Porsche prices? Is it a per min and per kWh charge?
May be worth using after end Sept - currently paying via gridserve app gives me a 20% discount.

Prices should be in the app. Mine show:

The per min costs change dependant on the EVSE you use (which can be annoying if you are on something like a 250kW device and it’s charging at 100kW - as you’d be paying the 350kW per-min rate).

Assuming you don't overstay your welcome, and get at least 53kWh charging, that works out at the std GridServe price if my calcs are correct.

Get any faster than that and it's cheaper than the std rate.

I used GridServe regularly when I first got the car (no home charger) and don't think I ever saw less than 79kWh charging, and often got very close to the max the car can do (think I had 260kWh or so).

At 79kWh I think that makes it around 67ppkWh, which for public charging isn't horrendous (obvs comparing to cheap rate at home it is!).

This is the old prices that are included with the free 3 year subscription isn’t.

My pricing for the UK (from France) is different. Ionity is 0.39 GBP and other 350 kW rates are per kWh and no time element now. Valid from 1.6.2024 for me.

Overall the Porsche Charging Service is quite expensive with its monthly fee of nearly 360 GBP in the UK. If you do road trips and can use Ionity exclusively, their Passport Power subscription may be worth looking at. It all depends on how much you use HPC on road trips and convenience in being able to use other charging networks.

Forgot about the charging keyring!
I bought one a few days ago. Very easy to add to your PCS account. Haven't used it yet, but I think it may be more convenient than Plug&Charge, which works for 99% of the time for me, but takes a lot longer to start charging than using the PCS card. With the key ring, I'm thinking I'll keep it in my trouser pocket and scan it rather than use Plug&Charge.

Agree on your experiences of Plug&Charge. There was two occasions (both in UK) where it really helped me get a charge at "broken" IONITY stations where it was just the screen/reader that wasn't working – but Plug&Charge got them started.

I had one lady kindly tell me that the pedestal was broken and there is no point trying it – at a busy station – and I persisted and it started no problem from me.

I don't think she ever understood my explanation of why that was! I've no clue, is Plug&Charge not on most cars at this stage?

Plug&Charge allows you to start charging your car without any extra identification such as the PCS card, app, or a credit card. Effectively, you pull up to the charger and just plug the cable into the socket and the process starts automatically. Works very well other than it's slower to start charging than if you'd started the charge with the PCS card.

Costs are also easy to find if you located a gridserve EVSE in My Porsche Map - both charges are clearly displayed - energy and time. I notice that we have 2 x 460KW (yes, 460 KW) sites in Scotland. 31p / kWh and 44p per min = 75p.

75p is a meaningless figure as it relates to two different units; time and kWh. For example, Gridserve charge 79p/kWh, so just saying "75p" makes it appear there is little difference between using Gridserve as a walk-up customer, and as a PCS customer, when in fact there is a large difference.

I don't think its meaningless - total cost plus a breakdown. I'd call that price transparency.

Porsche customers pay 75p for the fastest possible EVSE in UK. Granted only J1.2 Taycan might draw 300kwh but that's what 16 miles / minute!

No idea what a PAYG user might pay.

Only Ionity for Porsche don't additionally charge per minute (they do for others) and so a bargain at 31p.
