I'd buy again for sure.

Would I buy brand new from a dealer? No of course not. Six month old GTS's with hardly any miles on are at OPC's for around £80k that's a bargain for what you're getting. Mind you the GFV on mine was £55k and now they're just above £30k

I have the GTS ST and I came from a new RS6. Performance, servicing, tyre cost etc are all comparable but I don't miss spending £500 a month on fuel. The Taycan is a better car all round so if its better than an RS6 what else is there to buy.....

So much negative press on these forums from frustrated owners who have lost a fortune by paying retail etc. And for those complaining about apps and reliability; you've clearly never spent £100k on a range rover... Even my RS6 was less reliable than my taycan (3 dealer trips in a year compared to 0 for the taycan)..

As the image in the app is showing, it is to preheat/precool the cabin only. Focusses on the seats that are selected. So no battery, no mirrors, no rear window heating
Mine seems to decide for itself which ancillaries to switch on.
If it is really cold the steering wheel heating is on, but not normally - etc..

Think I’d like a ‘probably not’ choice on the poll.

I’ve had a few issues - heater, 22kw charger, some pcm issues etc. But I’ve got most of them turned around within a few days via Porsche assist, which is okay.

What I don’t like particularly is the ridiculous amount of time required to get the car seen if not an emergency eg I’ve booked in for a warranty job and decided to tag a service on. First appointment is 3 months time. It’s crap. So is no reply from things like the smart mobility team etc. no LTE for 3+ months costing me about £100 pm as I can’t benefit from smart charging.
Oh and did I mention the extra ‘advisory’ jobs they tell you about after you’ve taken your car in

Clearly cost of depreciation, parts (and thereby insurance) is very annoying, but it was never an investment so was expecting some (but not all). So if I did buy it wouldn’t be a new one for sure. But I must say, my overall impression of Porsche has been tarnished, in no small part because of the after sales service.

I’ve just renewed warranty for 3 years, so I guess I quite like it still. but if it had held its value a little better, I think I’d be chopping it in for something else (ICE!!!).

The problem for me is being fussy about spec and both not liking things that are popular, like monochrome paintwork, glass roof and privacy glass, and wanting things few people specify, like PDCC, torque vectoring and rear wheel steer.

Whilst price is not negligible for me when buying a new car (obviously) I have often chosen a car way less than my max budget because it suits my requirements better. A cheaper used Taycan with a spec I don't like would never match my requirements.

There are shed loads of used Taycans for sale but I only need to filter 3 or 4 wants and there are none I would pay my own money for :(
The problem is new ones have gone up so much and I don't like the front styling of the 4S any more.

So for me I am glad I bought mine and will keep it. Will I buy another? Probably not.

I can fully understand why some people, certainly the earlier models, might opt not to given the well documented issues. For me, besides the connection issues with the app which can be frustrating, I've loved every minute of it, the best car I've owned and I still get a buzz from driving it after 18 months of ownership. My only disappointment, rectified by the newer models judging by the stats, is the performance after 80mph seems to drop off in to the same realms as an M4/5.

As for would I buy again, well, I am considering a used GT after my current lease ends so yes I think I would. My only other consideration at this point, should it come to the UK, is the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. Rumoured price of about 120k which would appear a "bargain" and I think looks great with a nice interior (Porsche-like in some respects). Whether it's can be maintained, has the driving dynamics of a Porsche, and has reasonable build quality remains to be seen, but the reviews of the Max model seem really positive.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra looks much better than the standard saloon SU7, which is an awkward mishmash of design.
So far, impressions of the SU7 have been pretty good, I'm just not sure I'd spend 6 figures to drive a car with a phone brand on the bonnet.

So far I'm loving driving the Taycan, although I'm currently using a loaner.

I'm getting used to it's handling, practicing in the dealers car ?

Not one moment of grief on the 21"s, even on the freezing roads. No sign of ackermann effect on the Goodyears.

Obviously the seriously cold snap we're in now, is killing the range and I'm driving brand new cars, so regen isn't doing its thing. I'm ignoring the range calculator right now.

Id say the Taycan driving experience is fantastic, but the rest (outside of warranty / recalls) is totally spec dependent.

The rear cam (without 360) is shocking.

Far prefer my spec over this one.

Re the app, the Hyundai / Genesis one is a nightmare at times, so it's not unique to Porsche.

I've bought my Taycan as a young CPO, so no big depreciation problem so far, but a fantastic car for a very reasonable price.

The Taycan keeps on spoiling me more and more:
The longer I drive it, the more picky I get on any other car, because they don't meet the standard, overall comfort and precision of the Taycan.

Are all of the 'wrong' drivers side apps Android?
Mine certainly is - though I also have access to an iPhone so I'll load the app on there and check.

UPDATE: using the same account, same car:
  • iPhone correctly shows driver's side on right
  • Android incorrectly shows driver's side on left

This is my second Taycan and other than factory recalls i have had no issues. Car is awesome to drive. Financially a mixed bag- my 2020 turbo i sold at a great price (20k depreciation over two years) but my 2023 ST GTS probably has 60k of depreciation over two years. The Porsche ownership experience for me largely depends on the dealer. So far my local dealer has been great with service and loaner cars. By contrast i have owned 4 teslas and a lucid Air GT (2022). Lucid Air was a constant reminder of Beta testing and i had more issues than any previous vehicle. At that time Lucid Service was great as long as you didn’t need a loaner. Tesla service from 2019-2022 was pretty spotty if they couldn’t fix is via Mobile service or remotely. I Also have a BMW 2022 IX and that has turned out to be a great car with very few issues and excellent (but very costly) BMW service.

Just curious: what would you have bought if not the Taycan?
Well that’s the problem, nothing compares really. Today I’m back in love with it but I know some time soon I’ll probably hate it again. It just frustrates me at times.

lol, the brand is something that does have be concerned and I was thinking maybe I could take the badge/name about. I was even justifying it by debadging it but

There is that, that and the naming they are using seems related to phones as well e.g. Max, Ultra etc. I'm was happily resisting the lure of Chinese cars given our political differences but then this came along and I realised that I'd do almost anything for 1500 bhp.
