Hello everyone, first post!

I'm going to look at - and likely buy - a CPO J1 4S on Thursday after test driving one last week. These forums have been amazing for research, thanks to everyone who's posted. There were only a couple of things I couldn't discover.

Do you think there's anything major I've forgotten to ask/investigate? Any other advice?

  • It's had it's first service at 2 years. Nothing defective & repaired on the 111-point check apart from wipers and washer fluid. There's also a supplied geometry check that I have no idea how to interpret!
  • They have supplied a BHC (91% at 15,000 miles) and will have a Porsche Gold Technician sign it, but it's a "Determination without preparation" with a measurement accuracy of "+ / - 10 %" !
  • According to service history, it's had the following recalls/work done:
    • WPN82 Re-programming central computer (PCM) control unit
    • WPS91, Re-programming thermal management unit
    • ARB09 Replacing brake hose the left and right front axle
    • I'm unclear what the following means about the battery, evaluated last month: "Campaign not feasible: WRS0Z Checking HVB cell modules and re-programming BMCe software"
  • It still has a few months manufacturer warranty, then I will have 2 years approved warranty.
  • Do I get the Porsche charging service for the remaining manufacturer warranty too?
  • What's the latest version of PCM that it should have installed?
  • I'll be using the complimentary 5 day insurance and crossover on the last day with my amended current insurance (rip-off amendment prices!)
  • I've created a MyPorsche ID and installed the app (iOS), all working fine and ready to add a vehicle.
Finally, I've not seen the vehicle with my own eyes yet, and I've not haggled on price/discussed any changes to the price. What's the consensus here? I don't particualry want to sour what has so far been a good relationship, but it also won't be my local dealer. From other threads it seems there's a difference of opinion over whether one should haggle on price. Interested to hear people's current thoughts.

No red flags. Go drive it and take some pictures when you get it.

- 91% SoH is consistent with age and mileage.
- WRS0 means that modules need to be checked by the dealer by running a VAL log. Solution is BMCe software update that is not available at this time, which is the monitoring for bad battery cells software.
- Charging service should be transferrable as it is attached to the car's VIN.
- 15k miles is about when tires near their limits, make sure get measurement of tread
- On Porsche ID, make sure not to leave the dealership until you make sure SoS button is green and App is fully functional with all remote services working.

FWIW, it's about £50k off MSRP at 2.5 years old 15,000 miles, so it seems pretty good... I think???
If it’s a Certified Pre-Owned Porsche, there is nothing to be overly concerned about. If it’s anything other than this, keep looking.

You're in the UK?

Do you have a link to the car?

Always haggle. What's the worst that could happen? It's not like you're bidding on the only Taycan for sale ? (50k off may or may not be good depending on spec)

Geo check should state clearly whether all 4 corners are correct.

Battery SoH is in tolerance.

Has it had the heater recall done?

Yes on charging service (it's of limited value tbh).

Connect services expire at 3yrs too. I believe that's a few hundred quid.

Tyre check is a good call, especially on the inside corners. But if coming from an approved dealer, they should check this.

Check the underside of the car for gouges and dents.

Lucky duck, getting a car after its monster share of depreciation and after all the recalls so far. Enjoy! I know I have been for nearly 2 years now.

Since you haven't seen the actual car in person yet, do have the car on lift to check the underside for any dents or scrapes. Now you can also check if the inside of the wheels for damages or not. I did this and saw my rear wheel were damaged on the inside. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your input, very helpful.

Yep, in the UK.

I have actually ended up now going for a different car, which is cheaper, has lower mileage, has new tyres and a better spec - they reduced the price further than listed price too with a little negotiation.

What model year? Curious that it is a 4S ST. US only got ST in a GTS trim.
This is a very well spec'd example, but the only thing that I see missing is ACC.

It's MY23.

Yeah, I wanted ACC too, but it wasn't an absolutely must-have for me. All the models I saw with ACC often had really expensive other spec'd stuff too, which generally bumped the price up too much for the age/mileage IMO. Or they'd have weird specs like Burmester, but no comfort/sports seats or PB+ battery ?‍♂ Happy with what's on this though for sure.

For sure, this is an amazing spec with all the performance options that matter, over the top cosmetic options, all the right comfort, and agility. Still would be nice to see the full window sticker, if possible, to look at all the options in a familiar way.

Now I wonder if the car does not have ACC, should it have just regular CC as standard function, appears not the case even on the 2025s without ACC.

My only tip to you if you do not have ACC is to leverage Auto Regen feature in stop and go traffic. Regen button on the steering wheel if push and hold to enable Auto Regen that will slow the car automatically if it sees another car in front as long as you are off the gas pedal.

Did they provide you with the official HV battery SoH reading? I would expect it to be in close to 90% after 10k miles. This would be good to compare to what you can read by yourself with an OBD.

I found it amusing in your first post that the accuracy is +/- 10% without preparation. Our experience on the forum shows that no matter how you measure the accuracy between official dealer and what we measure via OBD is within 1%.

Yeah, I got the battery SoH sheet. 91% for this one too... apparently.

When I asked originally, the guy said "they just won't do it" but next time around when I showed him the OPC down the road did it, he suddenly decided they could do it! ?
