I have a 2020 RWD Taycan. I used to get 250-270 miles on a full charge. Now I get 150 miles on a full charge. I paid a bunch of money to the dealer to get the battery checked and they said it was normal wear - nothing they could do. Shouldn’t this be considered excessive degradation under the warranty? Has anyone been successful in getting their battery replaced under the warranty for excessive loss of charge? I feel like I’m getting screwed here and it’s getting hard to use it as my daily driver, as I live in a more rural area.

The car should be under manufacture's warranty, why do you need to pay for the inspection when report a problem with the battery?

The Taycan Forum needs details about your car. ~55 to 60 % reduction in range, per your claim.
  1. Do you have a PB or PB+ battery? The high-voltage battery is covered for eight (8) years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
  2. How many miles does your Taycan have? Is your car still under 4 years or 50K miles?
  3. Did you receive an OBDII diagnostic report from the dealer? If not, please request all the data, such as the SOC in cells, Cell Voltage, Module Temperature, SOH, SOC, Battery Energy, etc.
  4. Do you have an OBDII connector? If not, purchase one and download the Car Scanner EML OBD2 application on your cell phone. You will be able to collect the information mentioned above from your car, and the Taycan Forum will help explain the data. You just need to post it here.

The simplest way is to measure it yourself as @M3Taycan is pointing out: OBD + CarScanner App.
I suspect your modules are going bad, since the car reports SoC based on the worst cell. The process above with OBD will show if any cells are going bad.

Also, read the Battery Warranty that has degradation level coverages at miles and years not just 8 years and 100k miles, so if in fact any of these conditions are met then your battery replacement is covered under warranty.

Please do your homework as suggested above and come back with data that we can review and advise. Specifically, give us OBD readings and then find battery warranty data that you will be comparing it to.

The process above does not require a dealer.

You can PM me and I am happy to go through step by step.

Agreed. I think the dealer is taking advantage. It makes no sense to me. They said it was normal wear.

Ok, I will start on the homework for you @realsmartz:

This is the HV battery warranty:

Porsche Taycan Battery degradation - how to get replacement under warranty 1741041625024-vs

You need to get this OBD and free CarScanner App to capture car data to compare SoH level to above. Also, CarScanner App has graphs of cell SoC, Voltage, and Temp.

They seem to provide you with ZERO data.

The OBD data will show you SoH such as 90% that you can compare to the warranty above.

My car has 70k miles on it currently. I do not have the HV battery. Just the standard. I ordered an OBD off Amazon. I will scan and report back. In the meantime, I will also try to get the results from the $1,500+ battery health diagnostic the dealer did in the fall of last year.

Every Taycan has a HV battery. There are many things that can affect range but if you actually paid $1500 for a diagnostic, then you should share the detailed data associated with that. It should provide insight for your battery and is probably useful for others.

OBD SOH data is useless. Porsche has to run their own controlled tests.
I disagree. We have shown by data that dealer test is only 1%-2% different from OBD SoH with intent to monitor battery health on your own. However, of course the dealer would have to run their own test to claim warranty - this goes without saying.

OBD SoH data is useful to detect sudden drop in range and see if any cells are going bad. That is why we do it!

As others said, "HV" is a term for "High Voltage" battery to differentiate from 12V battery. You have the HV battery and we differentiate them by being as PB or PB+.

I would be thrilled to see your OBD data given the age and mileage. I am not aware of anyone on this forum with that many miles. My offer to you is to PM me and I would be more than happy to step by step you with OBD setup, data collection, and sharing for the benefit of the forum.

Winter is draining , I have performance battery plus and I’m getting 30% less than usual on the “guess o meter” , yours does seem a bit more extreme but I have a 23’ - see what it says in warmer weather , seems probably somewhat normal especially given degradation coupled with frigid temps this winter
