I have a Taycan 4s with battery plus. I have experienced decrease in actual range. I complained to the dealership and they perform what they called " short term measurement " and found the battery health is %79 which is below the warranty in less than 3 years. I told them , I am in title of changing the battery as per the warranty. Then they perform what they call " long term measurement " and found %87 . And they said no need go change the battery. Now my question what is the short & long term measurement and what the criteria for them?
In the warranty, they never mentioned this . What they are stating is if battery health go under %80 in less than 3 years , battery has to be replaced.
I would really appreciate your thoughts and comments in assisting me. Thanks in advance.

From US 2022 Taycan warranty book. (Porsche warranty in your country may be different.)

Note that information @ciaranob is collecting in this forum thread seems to indicate that Taycan battery degradation increases/gets worse for vehicles located in hot climates, compared to Taycans located in cooler climates.

Can't say for certain, but short term may be taking a reading, and long term after a rebalancing procedure.
That is most likely the case. But it is a huge difference between the two checks?

Guess the only ones that can explain the difference is the Porsche workshop that performed the tests. I would certainly be concerned about it.

Measuring the capacity of an Li battery is not easy and very time consuming. The ONLY way to do it accurately is to get the battery near full and then discharge to near empty and measure how many AHrs are discharged. This takes a long time and either the car has to be driven for 250 miles or more likely discharged at a recognised rate (that relates to driving). That will be how they do the long term test - as Tooney refered to in the @Genau link. Highly likely, the short term test is to do a limited discharge (at the SOC that the battery is in when the car taken to the garage) and maybe discharged over a 20% SOC range. The limited discharge is therefore likely to be much less accurate.

As d00d said above, they may do a rebalancing of the batteries before the long term test but that would require another full charge and discharge ahead of the capacity test.

I would ask the OP to provide some data on the loss of range suffered. That data would be very useful to compare ie what it was like from new vs what it is likely now. That data however has to be from driving at similar temperatures as battery temperature has so much effect on range. You also have to compare like for like use, ie what range do you get over a 2 hr drive - as the battery heats up on longer runs and that takes considerable power so reduces range, that may not be a problem in the UAE (it is in Scotland).

High temps certainly can kill Li batteries.
