Hi,
Looking to swap from a J1.1 to a J 1.2 4S Turismo.
Anyone done this?
What are your thoughts besides the 1.2 being more ugly at the front?
Is the 1.2 better in every respect?
(Naturally spec matters, but too many options to list here - both have full leather, RAS, matrix lights, BOSE, acoustic glass. Neither has PTV, active ride.)
What’s the effective range and miles per kw you’re seeing? At least 20% more?

Also curious as to whether the trade off in aesthetics is worth it for performance and efficiency.

A lot of tweaks make the J1.2 a better EV.
Full charging speed at 15 degrees Celsius battery temp. instead of over 30, bigger batt. overall, better charging menu, better economy.
More than 300 kW charging peak, better curve...
Is it worth switching?
To me: no
Is it desirable? Yes of course.
I am fully served with my J1.1 Turbo S, but usecases are different.

Congrats! That was a quick decision.
But if a man wants and can, he does.
ST with steel roof?

Pano not steel roof.
Wanted a CT but found an ST with a great spec.
Demo car, so I can save on list and claim back 25% corp tax this FY.
Only options it doesn’t that mine does, are air cooled seats and HUD. But it has other options to make up for it.

I had a 2020 4S for about two years, sold it, waited about two years and then got a 2025 Turbo.

The biggest difference for me (aside from the power boost going from 4S to Turbo) is the range increase. I take my Taycan skiing a fair bit. Because it can be quite cold, range suffers. Many of my trips are right on the edge of what the 4S could do. I either had to make a charging stop or sweat it out that I made it to my destination. The 2025 provides enough extra range that I can easily cut out at least one charging stop per trip.

Cutting out a charging stop has become a big deal here. There are significant state level rebates for EVs so everyone and their brother is buying an EV. The charging facilities (aside from Tesla facilities) have been swamped lately. It is not unusual to pull in and have an hour queue.

Aside from the range and power changes, there are a bunch of minor enhancements but nothing that I would pay much for.

Faster charging at much lower temperatures (15degC vs 35degC).
38% higher regen power
Availability of Active Ride.
And the expectation of improved reliability (charger/inverter stack, HVAC, battery pack).

I recently had a J1.2 4S for a week while mine was in having the recall sorted. Almost an identical spec to mine including the same wheels and tyres.

I can’t say I noticed too much difference - I was home charging so didn’t make use of the wider faster charge band. What I did notice was the extra range and economy - after 4 days I was still at 80% battery (they gave it to me on 100) which was a big surprise.

My standard commute to the office is very short and I usually get 1.5mi/kWh from a cold start (mainly uphill route). On the J1.2 the same journey was showing 2.4-2.7mi/kWh. Similarly the drive back to the dealer was showing 3.1 where I struggle to get mine to hit 2.6 on the same journey.

My daughter loved the ambient internal lighting with options to change colours which mine doesn’t have. I didn’t like it, prefer darkness! I also didn’t like the heated steering wheel, dunno why but a warm steering wheel feels odd. I realise that’s a me thing!

Hoping to see that kind of range increase.
I love a heated wheel :)

Being tight fisted and keen on efficiency the thing that appealed to me most when I got a CT4 loan car was less waste energy charging it from my home dispenser, my CT4S car wastes 500W of electricity in overhead whilst charging whereas the new CT4 wastes almost none.
OTOH range is rarely an issue for me with mine and the price difference to get a car with a spec I want is huge.
The exra efficiency of the new one probably wouldn't pay off during my lifetime.
I find the new front as dull as a black interior :(

4S J1.2 is the better car - a lot more power (same as J1.1 GTS).

Expect 30% more range.

Perhaps not enough to switch.

Depends on what they offered for yours...............................
I’ll share more after I do the swap.
Naturally, wanted more for mine and to give less for theirs.
But overall I was happy enough with the man maths.
Only viable though because of the company fist year allowance tax deduction.

Are you trading your current CT 4S or selling it privately ? I would be interested if you can share spec. Thanks
