For last year’s recall I was in the ARA4 camp - where remote monitoring had confirmed the problem existed. ARA5 was the equivalent recall where OTA monitoring results were not available.
Now after the ARA4 module replacement work was done, it appears that remote monitoring is not possible or is unreliable. I do still get OTA updates, so no comms module problem exists.
IMO Porsche has lost control of the issue. I could not recommend buying a pre facelift Taycan which does not have a full set of updated battery modules.

that would be a reasonable explanation. But then again, the number of people getting ARB6 instead of ARB7 letters is so high, that I highly doubt everyone has broken communication modules or just bad reception...
And even in that case, can Porsche confirm that they'll move you to ARB7 (and thus not keep you bound to the 80% charging limit or avoid parking inside obligation/recommendation) if such communication problem is solved?
I think there may be some option to share data in the pcm as well. The sort of thing that Apple asks for when you buy a new phone for them to monitor your kit so they can make better products in the future.

But you’re right, it’s not just people with comms modules that have gone down like mine. May just be a myriad of reasons why your data from your car doesn’t land in the right sever. Maybe it’s vin related. Or combinations of all of the above.

Sorry, really not sure, but I’d also like to know!

I just talked to my dealer, my car has BOTH ARB6 & ARB7 showing up - and my understanding is ARB6 has a recommendation of an 80% charge limit. Hes not sure why both are showing. My car does have data collection activated...
BTW, its still laid up in the shop, for 30 days now, with a down 19.2 charger, and as of today, zero ETA on the part.

So you wouldn’t have any idea about the charge limit recommendation if you hadn’t gone in??

I wonder if I’m in the same boat. I’ve been waiting for the new Porsche service center in Los Gatos to open. Spring this year so any day now.

It showed up as such (adding ARB6) about 3 weeks ago in the porsche recall portal. When I dropped the car off, only ARB7 was showing, and dealer this AM confirmed ARB6 now shows. He isn't sure why both show, and is following up.

@DerekS run your VIN through the NHTSA recall site. My letter was ARB7 but the NHTSA had it listed "correctly" at ARB6.

It still shows ARB7 as does Porsche’s recall site.
Assuming you have data sharing enabled I'd take all that as a good sign that ARB7 actually applies to your battery. No problems detected yet. If you aren't sharing data well then Porsche doesn't really have a clue.

I would agree except for the yellow battery service warning I got on Monday after a DC charge to 99%.

I am unsettled and really need to know if my car is safe or if that was just a fluke.

I will probably try another charge to the same level to see if it repeats. That might indicate a definite fault.

And the yellow warning message probably did not indicate HV or 12V problem. Given the questionable quality of our batteries any yellow warning would have me calling the dealer.

I was told that running WRS1 took my dealer less than an hour. They parked it outside with a good signal and told Porsche to do their diagnostics. Given the warning message, if you haven't done WRS1 it shouldn't disrupt the dealer service department to make some time to just park your car outside as there is minimal time involved for a tech. That would at least give you the certainty of an up to date official battery check.

It was definitely the HV battery as the icon was a battery “stack”

Check the voltages with the CarScanner app? A problem should show up as a major voltage variance in a cell.

I don’t have the hardware. Never really cared enough. Maybe now I do.
The app is free (small fee to upgrade for no ads) and a decent bluetooth dongle probably under $100. An amazing amount of info available through the app.
