Car returned with the J1.2 battery
2020 J1.1 Taycan Turbo range at 85% was 200 miles and at 100% 240(ish) miles
2023 J1.1 Taycan Turbo S ST range at 85% was 180 miles and at 100% 205 miles
2023 J1.1 Taycan Turbo S ST [WITH J1.2 BATTERY] range at 85% was 205 miles and at 100% 245 miles

Therefore whilst an improvement, the change in battery only brought it up a bit on what it was, and only up to the level of the 2020 Turbo
I haven't charged it except at home yet

Thank you, as I've been saying for a long time but nobody believe me you won't get any extra range with the 9J1.2 battery becuase Porsche locks 10kwh of capacity via software in the BMS....

Did you have to pay for the battery J1.2 upgrade or were you one of the lucky ones?

There will be a hack for it sooner or later, as well to receive the full power this new j1.2 can provide. That would be awesome if one ever gets this J1.2 replacement AND get it tuned.

I hit an unaturally high speed bump and the insurance paid
So you have the battery part number? It will be interesting to compare them for those of use that are Supposably getting them replaced with j1.2.

No part number, so why do you assume you have a J1.2 battery?
So far everyone here claiming a J1.2 battery has been wrong.

Also if you went from 205 miles to 245 miles of range that could well be a J1.2 battery. Why do you expect more than that? it's 19.5% extra range compared to before and the battery has 18% more net capacity. So this would check out exactly.

The dealership advised me that the battery installed was a J1.2 battery and they had to order a converter.

I believe the original J1.1 battery was faulty on delivery due to the limited range from the outset, I returned it to the dealership to no avail, they claimed no fault found. The new J1.2 battery is merely giving me the range I should have had in the first place. This isn't my first J1.1 Taycan

I don't think it was. I have a Turbo S CT and the range is about the same as what you had. Less in winter, and about that in summer. Battery is perfectly fine.

The range (and aero) is much worse on the wagon variants and the 21" with wide tyres aren't helping it either.

240 miles is common on j1.1 based on driving habits and temperature.

If I do only legal speed driving, at 80-100km/h max, i can get 240 in summer.

Hell, if i go on mountains, i get more than 240 overall, due to regen.

Last summer in south of italy I was getting constantly 450-460km of range (280 miles). In switzerland also, 420-440km of range (260 miles) - on 21 inch mission E

This year I am getting less by 20-30km, so either my SoH went down, or some battery issues after they replaced 1 module in december, waiting for my ENET cable to check.

Of course, all in summer at 25-30 degrees Celsius.

So based on that range, i wouldn't jump to call it a j1.2.

@Talisker if you send a mesage to @ct14garage with you VIN, he might be able to see in the system what battery you got installed.

But I don't think it's a j1.2 one. Porsche seems to still have stock until late 2025 or sometime in 2026.

The TSB for j1.2 batteries was released for when stock inevitably runs out..

This is what the dealership sent me when the battery arrived

" The replacement battery has arrived and been inspected for fitment. As this is a Gen 2 battery which they have sent, we need a conversion kit to fit to a Gen 1 Taycan..... Although it is a Gen 2 battery, the vehicle is Gen 1 so it converts the battery (using the conversion kit) back to make it compatible with the vehicle. This means you won’t get the same range as the Gen 2 Taycan.
I’m sorry we can’t increase the range for you, it is the technology which is set by Porsche."

I understand that.

But since no other cases have been confirmed true, despite other dealers saying the same as your dealer or similar, it would be worth a check with the VIN at @ct14garage , which has access to the Porsche system, and could see the part number.

It would be informative for the community if it proves as true, and it would also give a final conclusion to you without doubts.

I do hope it is true, for the sake of all of our cars, not just yours. But so far, despite dealers saying it's j1.2, no other car has actually gotten a j1.2 battery
