Yes indeed, I have encountered some exceptionally arrogant people in the Taycan community (at large, and on here). Of course, this is just a subset of the Porsche owners but I can see how they earn a bad reputation.

I started my EV ownership in the early days of Tesla when it was a community of like minded people who liked innovation and had an interest in the planet. They were an incredibly helpful bunch. People would give way to others on chargers, stop to chat, help each other. (It is no longer that way of course…)

Joining the Porsche community was quite a shock. Suggesting that people should move off a highly congested charger when they got to 80% to free the network for others yielded a barrage of comments like “I don’t care what others need, I’m on the charger and I will charge to 100% if I want to”. And at chargers no one says hello, they just glare from their closed vehicle. A very different community.

I found the “charger community” pretty friendly in 2021.

Much less so now.
Agree. Back in 2021/2022 I would inevitably get asked if my Porsche was "fully"electric, what range I got, etc. The more knowledgable folks (usually from Youtube videos) would stare at the IONITY charger display and marvel at charge rates in excess of 200 kW.

Now there are more likely to be queue hopping or general frustration. Not helped by a lot of cheaper vehicles having truly terrible charging curves and spending much of their time taking in energy at below 80 kW.

At chargers I'm not really interested in talking to anyone ... I'm into cars and already know how fast most EV's go from 0-60, how much range they typically get, the conversation is pretty much dead after swapping that info anyway. For some a simple hello is an invitation to come over and tell their life-story, honestly got no time or interest for all that. I usually just get some work done on my laptop while I wait.
These days the majority of the EV drivers are people who were pretty much forced to get an EV as a company car, and often don't really care much about cars in general.

I'll leave when I reach my target, unless some douche comes to check my charger screen every 2 minutes and keeps staring at me like I owe him something ... if I got time then I'll stay to 100% just to piss him off.

I'd do exactly the same if I were driving a Nissan Leaf, so not really related to driving a Porsche.

Maybe the sports car owners are different than the EV/luxury owners. Everyone I’ve met has been fairly friendly.

In my 35 years of travels all over the world for work I have noticed that both kindness and obnoxiousness are not confined to any nationality or ethnic group. Some people are arseholes some people are nice, some people are very status concious, some aren't, some people are obsessed with money, some aren't.

I suppose Porsche owners are a subset of these but those who are obsessed with money and status are more likely to be arrogant arseholes IME.

Very rarely do I get an issue in the Taycan other than…… if it’s an EV why does it say TURBO. I do get the fuzziness on occasion from ( base car) 911 owners when I’m in the C8 Z06 somehow they’re delusional enough to think that their car is far superior over the Z06. They will attempt all types of feeble arguments to explain some type of superiority. . I just tell them, I’ve owned both and now i have the better overall car. This seems to quiet the noise.

I also have a C8 Z06, but haven’t crossed paths with many 911 owners.
Taycan as daily driver and C8Z on the weekends, it’s the best of both worlds in terms of what I’m looking for.

This is my first Porsche and I've noticed that not everyone is happy for me. I try to be considerate towards other drivers, but it seems some people see me in my gleaming silver Taycan and don't know what to think.
Is it also your first EV? I'd have thought that would be a more significant trigger of the prejudices of the ignorant. At least in UK, Porsches are now so ubiquitous and the ownership demographic so diverse that I've not noticed any significant negativity since Yuppie times (I too have only joined the fold in recent years).

it's more of a size of car matter IMO. When I drove my X5, in-law's full size truck, van, etc, everyone gives you space.
