Amen brother. One of the biggest disappointments has been the lack of OTA updates to improve the owner experience. We saw one significant positive update in 4 years, pretty much everything else was recalls. With focus moving on to the J1.2, all the J1.1 'early adopters' have been abandoned. But what does that experience mean for loyalty, return to the brand? The goodwill generated by continued updates to the J1.1 PCM would be significant.

My question is when I can buy the electric Boxster.

And I’d caution them that their EV slowdown might lose me as a customer of 27 years, as I love the EV powertrain now and won’t return to ICE.
I have the same question as DerekS about the delivery date of the EV Cayman/Boxster. And what about creating goodwill amongst the current Taycan owners with software upgrades to fix our bugs.? Those upgrades might help resale values and help Porsche’s EV reputation.

What will happen after the 8 year battery warranty expires. I'm not buying a new car.

Same thing that happens when your ICE warranty expires. If a catastrophic failure happens it’s on your dime.

What is going on: Prepare for a full day of performance driving! You and six fellow [Dealer] clients will get behind the wheel of a 718 GT4RS/SpyderRS, a 911 GT3, and a Taycan Turbo on the west track. Beyond the track, your exclusive experience includes time in the Porsche simulation lab, a gourmet lunch at Restaurant 356, and a behind-the-scenes tour of Porsche Cars North America's headquarters
Dang, that is awesome! I'm not jealous, not jealous at all :p

Arrived at ATL PEC

Dealer GM said EV Boxter basically cancelled.

Taycan future not known and most likely will end soon.

At going public profits were 20% but now 1%-2% is the new reality.

I have other questions noted about PCM updates that I am interested in as well for J1.1.

have fun - it's a great location - none of those answers are surprising - Porsche has lost interest in EV's - they have no magic sauce for EV's - too analog of a company.

This aligns with what I have also heard / been saying. They are going back to panamera only, ICE & Hybrid, and now they will squeeze in it an EV power train also. No more dedicated 4 door EV porsche platform.

EV Boxter is still coming, at least what I've heard, but not as announced, since they plan to do same as panamera, a platform for all 3 types of drive train - so again, not a EV platform. Supposedly it sold so well now, when they announced discontinuing the ICE version, and that's the main driving force behind the change to bring it back - I wonder if it would have sold nearly as well if it weren't "the last ICE boxter"

I don’t think he (not you @SergeyIndy ) knows what he’s talking about. Why in hell would they be putting out a Cayenne EV if they plan to drop all EV‘s?

I also asked the tour guide. Super knowledgeable with News room office in the building. She said Boxter EV not going to happen.

How much of those profits were eaten up by recalls, and how many of those could have been taken care of by OTA update for a fraction of the cost, if they had a fully functional OTA?

Tbh Boxster EV does not make sense anyway.
It's a weekend/track car and in a weekend car you generally want something that makes noise and is as light as possible.

At least the vast majority of buyers want that. Some people on here probably don't, but it is the minority.

EV is great as a daily driver, and that is why I like the Taycan, but I would never buy an EV as a weekend toy.

So Porsche has decided to go down with the ICE cars then? Milk as much profit as possible until ICE profits don't keep the lights on anymore, then shut the doors?

The OTA is fully functional. They just don't want to use it, because e.g. the PCM is a shitshow, if it gets messed up at the dealer, the car can stay at the dealer a little longer. If it would mess up during OTA, imagine the PR for Porsche if cars would brick themselves overnight - that would be WAY worse than any PR due to the lack of updates on the PCM. On MEB VW flash the entire car OTA - infotainment and all the modules in the car, and no problem.

There are percentage wise very few recalls on the Taycan that could have been fixed by OTA.
You can't OTA your heater, OBC, brake lines, battery and so on. They did OTA update the battery monitoring software, but that's just a part of it.

A lot of suppliers screwed up really bad on the Taycan. There are many issues with most of the vital systems in the car - gearboxes, batteries, motor inverters, heating system and so on.
Much of it has been ironed out for J1.2.

Consider that they have been building ICE for almost a century, and then the Taycan has a huge amount of "firsts".

My sense is that this EV thing is just an unfortunate blip in Porsche history that reversed their fortunes big time and keep driving up costs and drying up profits.

They will continue to build Cayenne EV and Macan EV as long as there is demand even at a loss. However, Boxter EV is gone, Taycan facing end of life, and some strange hybrids are on the horizon, as the guide said, "they are experimenting" with different drivetrains. Macan with a strange drivetrain will be first since the ICE original should have been done by now as platform already stretched to the limit and a dinosaur. Funny enough, they use the dinosaur theme for their race cars, they had a Rexxy in the building and another Roxy on a picture - not exact on the names - with one to be racing this weekend in the Petit Le Mans.
