They must have seriously punished the hell out of it to cook them like that in around 85-90 miles.
Or maybe Porsche just never built the Taycan to actually go to the track? If only a small percentage of customers track their cars, Porsche bean counters may have concluded it makes financial sense to just drop/ignore those customers' needs. I've seen this with some tools companies, which make tools intended to look pretty on a home garage bench, able to be used for a few minutes a couple of times a year, but fall apart should you start using them professionally. Log time ago I remember returning a craftsman wrench multiple times because it just kept on breaking, until the sales guy explained to me if I'm actually going to use the wrench I should just buy the professional tool (which costed more, but didn't break). Similar story with a cordless drill.

Whatever they did, PSCBs are NOT the brakes for track use.
You want the steel ones if that’s your jam.

Yet they make them standard for Turbo/TurboS (with no option for steel brakes).

This is so trite. I have founded and operated four engineered product manufacturing businesses and I worked for two others when I was young. Not once did an accountant ever get involved in a technical decision. In fact accountants basically make no decisions within the hierarchy of a business.

I got a couple apps in my PCM for track stuff. Seems like an odd decision if they didn't.
Yeah the whole Sport Chrono is literally there to assist timing track laps, so I'm pretty sure track use is a supported use case.

Oh that's a really good point, is recuperation disabled for the first N miles to bed the new brakes?
yes... one of my early learnings and at least some reason why my 500 mile CPO had a steal brake pad reading of 8mm front and 9mm back with more loss on the disks than I would have guessed.

They want people to think it is track capable. The Craftsman wrenches I used came with lifetime warranty which was their marketing implying how good they are, I just got tired of exchanging them (for free, at Sears back then), so spent some more money of a professional set which didn't break.

Maybe another, closer example would be the Hummer H2. Marketed using the H1 as the workhorse of the military, but in reality H2 was nowhere near as capable. It could do party tricks on short courses, but stick it in the middle of a jungle and it wouldn't last anywhere near like the H1.

My 2023 Turbo (with PSCB) had recuperation enabled when I picked it up from the showroom floor with <20 miles on it.

there are plenty of people who track the Taycan. I don't believe @DerekS was really used by people who know how to drive on track. If you have been to any of performance driving schools. They have a lot fast acceleration and slam on the brakes multiple times. Which is probably not the best for the brakes not allowing cooling lap to cool them down before you enter the pit.
