I was told by my dealer and UK customer service, that if I had a non-Porsche tracker fitted and the car developed an electrical issue the warranty may be invalidated. Sounded unlikely, but I went with the Porsche fitted Vodafone tracker and it seems to work well - when I’ve stupidly left my wallet with the ‘token‘ in it at home, I have had an almost immediate warning text and the one time I ignored it I then got a call.

I previously had a Tracker fitted to my Lexus EV and when the 12v battery failed and I couldn’t open the electronic locks to get in, Lexus blamed the Tracker. That Tracker had its own battery and warned if the cars 12v battery had been disconnected.

The Porsche / Vodafone tracker will probably be the easiest. It works well, though I didn’t renew this yesterday because it only added £25 to my insurance to not have a tracker

Well worth £25 (or changing insurer) to avoid having to carry the stupid tracker box around with you everywhere (separately from keys etc).
yup exactly. I travel on ferries every few weeks and it’s a revelation not having to put it in transport mode every time I board. But if I needed a tracker then I think the Porsche one is probably the easiest to sort out

Can’t you just leave the fob in the car? Not like it’s getting nicked while on the ferry 🤣

Do you know what? 3 years and that never occurred to me (genuinely). I have three university degrees. 😭

I only know this because I didn’t know what the fobs were for, left them in the glovebox, (for the first 2 months of ownership) and found out what happens when you take them out and drive off without them 🤣

I have just picked up my new Taycan and had the Vodafone tracker installed - insurance happy and it was £150 cheaper than Tesla Performance - simple to use too.

Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (PVTS+) good enough and comes with a downloadable certificate for insurance purposes. Integrates with My Porsche App. Only negative is that you must carry a 'drivers card' (another fob) around with you.

Last renewal Admiral weren't bothered if there was a tracker or not (no premium difference) so I abandoned PVTS+ when I got my 911. Insurance companies have a habit of changing things periodically.

Be sure to set your car valuation at a realistic valuation - check dealer prices for same age cars.

When you say Tracker, are you referring to the vehicle location showing in the My Porsche app?

Same! - I'm with Admiral and they couldn't care less whether it has a tracker or not. That said it might also be affected by other things (age, driving/claim record, ...).

No, I think it is specifically PVTS+ (or similar) which provides 24×7×365 3rd party monitoring amongst other features.
