I have a little bit of experience driving performance car in all weather conditions, Taycan Turbo GT was my daily driver (10k miles in less then a year in Chicago), had 3 seasons as a privateer for Opel and FIAT in late 70s rallying and I wouldn't dare to attempt driving ANY car on Summer tires in Winter.
It's a law in Germany to swap tires in Winter and it is to force idiot or clueless drivers to do it for their own (and other motorists in particular) protection.
I don't care if this one was at fault or if someone cut him off, this driver is at fault by default, simply for the stupid idea of driving a 1000HP car on Summer performance tires in this weather.
If I were the insurance adjustor I would deny his or her claim.
If I recall, these had the Trofeo RS tires on them too, so even worse. I wonder if the dealer is liable by letting him drive ff the lot with this tires at this time in IL?

Whoever bought this car is not a child, not a dealer's responsibility although in this state people sue others for even stupider things and win.
I picked up my car in late October 2024, still had a very mild weather but already unpredictable.
Dealer swapped the tires by my request before it was even detailed for delivery.

I'm honestly surprised that the driver would floor it into a corner like that. In a straight line, sure, but into a corner?!? That's just dumb.
Overconfident in his drifting abilities, after having drifted a Miata in the past(his own words from the video). No argument it was dumb, as probably was whatever maneuver crashed this Taycan.

Not sure how the TC works when it's in track mode, but tt should have cought him
Or he lied on the video, not wanting to admit he turned off traction control completely. Kyle turns off traction control in his videos lots of times.

We have an entire generation of drivers...maybe two now, who've never driven any car...even one as mind-numbingly sedate as a Honda Civic...without traction control available to intervene when the driver's inattentiveness, deficit of common sense, or lack of physics education presents itself at the wrong time.

The more "safe" engineers design cars, the more lazy drivers can be, as the consequences of errors in judgement and technique don't result in trips to the emergency room or morgue nearly as frequently as it did 40 years ago...back when an accident didn't cause pillows to coddle the driver as if they were sleeping in a luxury hotel.

Besides having each of my sons take a drivers education course, I’ve always felt that as a parent I had a responsibility to train my children to be a good drivers.

This included taking them out on snowy days to empty parking lots and teaching them how to correct a spin-out and in general deal with loss of traction and control. In those days, they also had to learn to drive using a stick shift.

I would’ve been happy if the cars we had back then also had the safety features that are available today, but giving my children basic driving skills would still have been my job.

Wow, parenting! What a novel idea! Or perhaps it's an ancient idea nowadays, considered outdated by many who think it's the school's and/or the government's job to raise their kids. :(

You just need money to buy a powerful car, nothing else… also we have all been there… trying all the driving modes and push the car over the limits to test traction, braking power, handling… no pilots in this forum, or very few with experience to handle excessive optimism on public roads…
I am never confident to push my Taycan in any corner, it’s too heavy, you can feel the weight moving from one side to another. It really holds the lines but most of the job is done by the tyres and any excess will result in tyres screaming for help.
Opposite to this experience is my Elise, where the chassis does the job not the tyres. No matter what you throw at it, tyres will never scream for help.
You need to visit a PEC! They encourage you to push the Taycan to its limits, and if you do have a little fender bender, they limit your out of pocket exposure to $5K. Best of all, no crash gets reported to your insurance company.

My son hated me but we did test drives for months. It wasn’t every day but I took the parent teaching course seriously and I thought him how to log his hours, type of driving, residential, freeway, etc. Always put him in safe but overwhelming conditions so he would train his instincts. He got a first hand look at other people rage driving, giving us the finger, honking, etc and made him appreciate it a lot. He is 19 now, with 2 years of solo driving experience, and he’s moved up from a Subaru Forester to a BRZ. My wife was a bit scared when I got it for him but he loves and takes really good care of his car. I’m proud of him.
