My 2020 taycan 4s failed to charge at tesla superchargers at 2 different locations.

Gemini said it needs a dealer update, will that correct this issue? I've been to the dealer for all the recalls so I'm somewhat dubious of this.

I'm equipped with the Onboard 150kW/400v DC option.

I believe I followed the right steps and used the oem adapter. I verified on the Tesla app and the My Porsche app that the location and stall can charge my car. I put the adapter on the tesla charger first before plugging it into the car.

Thanks in advance!

do you activate the supercharger using the tesla app before you plug in the Taycan?

No, I belive I plugged in the Taycan first. Am I supposed to activate it first then plug it in?

yes you need to use the app to activate charging with tesla - also make sure you are using tesla chargers that support non tesla’s - not all superchargers location s support non tesla’s

if the tesla site is no shown on you pcm navigation it’s not a site that allows non tesla’s

However I was wrong, I did activate charging first.
After that it tells me to attach the adapter and attach it to the car.

I went to yet another station to try this sequence and still no luck...

I have a 2021 Taycan and have charged multiple times at Telsa without any issues. I don't need to use the Tesla app -- when I plug in the car, the Porsche app recognizes the Tesla station and begins charging. Aside from checking to make sure the location is open to non-Tesla, I can't think of anything else. Sorry you're having trouble!

Curious about this, as I've never used the Porsche app for charging. Does the app support other non-Porsche charger networks besides Tesla? (so far I've used the "native" app for the charging networks I connected to, but I haven't tried Tesla yet so wondering if the Porsche app would be better for mevs the Tesla app, e.g. if it also supports Rivian that would be handy).

I've only experienced this integration with Tesla and Electrify America. Both are plug and charge for me through the Porsche App. I don't have to interface with either of their apps or charger screens when charging.

I have a 2020 Taycan Turbo with the 400 volt 150 kW option and have never been able to charge successfully at a Tesla supercharger. I have tried both the Tesla app and the Porsche app to initiate the charge. In both cases, charging tries to start but then quits with an error. I am using the Porsche branded NACS to CCS adapter.

I've tried to get a fix for this from my dealer and also from PCNA but no luck.

As a software guy this kind of thing frustrates me. There's a log file somewhere that shows why charging didn't initiate for your car. There's a developer somewhere who could read that log file and determine why then fix the software. Heck AI could do that now. What's missing is a manager at Porsche who gives a crap whether things work or not.

I would do a couple of things.

- First, ask the forum or hopefully someone on the forum with a 2020 can reply if they have been able to successfully charge at a Tesla SC to eliminate that somehow 2020 is different enough for not allowing charge
- Second, just because a station checks out with PCM, Tesla App, and states supporting Non-Tesla cars, mine only able to charge at 1 but not the other 2 in the area. I am a 2023.

By my casual count SteveBruin is the fourth person on this forum to report an inability to charge at Tesla SCs. I'm one of the four.

Folks are very helpful at suggesting trying the Tesla App first, etc. but in my case neither I nor my dealer have been able to successfully charge my Taycan at a Tesla SC. One person on this forum reported that a dealer changed out a major part (I forget which part) and that didn't work.

I agree with the commenter that somewhere out there is a log that would explain the problem in a way that it could be fixed by Porsche or Tesla but my dealer looked at the problem on two separate visits ... and gave up.

A couple of weeks ago I sent email to Porsche Customer Service suggesting that it might be as simple as a VIN number not appearing on a list Tesla has. So far I've gotten nothing but an acknowledgement of my email.

Thanks. I've now tried 4 other SC superchargers that's supposed to non-tesla vehicles. All failed...
