IMO the Macan EV GTS is the sweet spot. $121-131k builds, sitting around not selling.

I had a Macan 4 EV loaner for 6 weeks while waiting for parts and found it shockingly bad in comparison with my CT4S J1.2 PAR. Not just the negative impact of a higher center of gravity, but the mushiness of the suspension and the resulting lack of accuracy in mid to high speed curves are worlds away of the Taycan. Also disliked the driving position, too vertical/seated.

I understand the people who value the practicality elements - the Taycan is a huge car with no space - but this practicality come at a steep price in terms of handling integrity and poise which some seem a bit too quick to rationalize.
Exactly my experience too after only 1 hour I gave them the keys back & bought my Taycan Turbo lol

Will be another story with the Cayenne ! (Coupé S is my target, what a beauty :))

These are interesting observations, but I keep thinking that those who say the feel/suspension of the Macan EV is mush are comparing a base/4 with a Taycan S and with suspension options. So not sure if these are apples/apples comparisons or yeah the Taycan was ordered with way better suspension options that baser Macans.

Does Macan EV have phone-as-key?

Porsche Digital Key (phone as a key) is available on the MY'2026 Macan EV's and later…

Macan EV doesn't have PAR option and seems to have 2 possible "quality" of suspension options.
I'm comparing the "best you get in a Macan" (except maybe if the GTS or Turbo would have different chassis specs making them better?) to the Turbo I then bought, which comes with its standard air suspension.
Both in 21" wheels.
Hope that helps.

Pity about lack of PAR option. Is there any known technical reason, or just marketing decision?

They have bigger things to worry about such as the driver seat belt buckle hitting the plastic B-Pillar. This is a brand new platform and first iteration of a thing of its kind. The Air Suspension is the best they have and then you still have Rear Wheel Steer. Taycan did not get the PAR until 5 years into it.

Thanks Sergey, then I don't know how to technically explain it, and maybe comparing a sedan to an SUV is not fair, but it's really a huge difference between the 2.
Then going back to SUVs, I drove recently the iX3 and GLC EV, both are way better than Macan in terms of how the suspension filters top/down induced road defects (irregularities, pot holes etc) and also how the chassis is maintained in check (I mean avoiding too much left-right-left roll that I hated in the Macan)

I had a Macan EV loaner for a week and loved it. It's a much better daily driver than a Taycan, although I never saw the Taycan as a daily driver anyway, due to its many inconveniences.

The NVH was surprisingly good. It was nimble in spirited canyon driving, felt smooth on the horrible LA streets, and offered great steering feedback.

Negatives:
  • Way overpriced.
  • No interior space: To me, it's a raised hot hatch with no room to stow anything and no rear legroom.
  • An extremely cheap center console.
I also spent a couple of hours with the Cayenne Turbo EV at PCNA. What a spectacular vehicle that is. Even without Porsche Active Ride, the suspension is so smooth in both Normal and spirited driving. However, I wouldn't spec it without PAR, which would give it the perfect ride. It also rides much better than the new Range Rover.

The biggest issue is the center console, which needs help for North America and is something Porsche is currently working on.

Furthermore, I prefer the infotainment screen of the Macan over the Cayenne's huge screen. Even though the Cayenne screen was very snappy, it's just too large—seemingly designed just to show that Porsche is serious about tech. The curved screen feels like it's just merging the Taycan's PCM and HVAC screens together. In my opinion, big screens are simply there to distract from cheap interiors.

You forgot to mention that it is way behind now vs. new BMW electrics that offer much more range with bigger batteries and at a much lower price, if you can get one in 2026, with stories that first year production is all sold out.

I am getting Macan EV GTS in about a month here for my son who will be commuting to college. Good for the family type addition but not for me as a daily. Taycan is no inconvenience for a daily where I live with pretty good roads, world record of round abouts, mostly highway commute to work, and charge at home.

Is that based on your GT? I find it great as a daily driver... even my GTS.

This is when I had my RS E-Tron GT which is a much softer car than the Taycan.

The B pillar, ingress/egress, tight interior, lack of room to stow anything, long front hang, low front (going up driveways at angle & constantly lifting the front) lack of rear seating room, and the dreaded ticket booth scenario.

The Turbo GT is even worse because of the front aero

For my daily driving, I don't want have sports car thoughts or compromises and I drive alone 80% of the time, in my Taycan 95% of the time.
An EV like a Lucid is far better for daily use IMO.

CT is much better because it's raised and the rear is more usable for passengers and trunk storage.

The American use case is so unique that that Porsche is going back to the drawing board just for the front storage on the Cayenne EV. It's that much of an issue.

ummm... what is this?
Have you tried getting a ticket from a parking ticket booth in a parking garage?
I have to put the car in park and open my door just to get a ticket, or pull a cirque du soleil to get my body out of the car
