I’ve asked them to buy the car back at the price I paid for it. However, it’s the 22kW blowing up that was the straw that broke the camels back - the (in excess of) 20 service visits in 2.5 years of ownership is the core reason for the ask! I very much want a Taycan - but one that I don’t have to spend literally 3 days a month of my life every month driving back to the OPC to get a problem sorted! The times in between driving a loan base ICE Macan - or as happened this time, a rental Ford small SUV!
I’ve been placated with a Taycan loan while I wait to hear back on my proposal!

To date, no news from support, no replacement car from the dealership, they offered a 7-day rental car (a T Rock). Second breakdown in 18 months, I don't want to accept a downgrade to the 11kW module, I'm requesting termination of the contract, either with a buyback or with a trade-in for another car. If I don't get a response, I'll contact a lawyer. I live in Italy.

For what it’s worth I’ve had just two visits in the dealership for the 22kw breaking down. Each took 2,5 weeks. Second time I was away so didn’t really feel it. Got 1700eur compensation for the downgrade. The 22kw unit is plane shit and I don’t want it in my car. Extended warranty for the win :)

Anyone in the US got to keep their 19.2kw/22kW (broken) hardware?

They are cancelling these 22kw chargers and won’t be offering them for replacement. There is simply no stock of new ones to have yours replaced.

Hence my inquiry about bad ones, wanted to check into repairing them, perhaps practice on one, so when my second one dies, I can consider repairing it myself.

There was a thread somewhere, they are repairable for sure but I have warranty and they are taking the old unit. I would have loved to get my hands on the faulty one but even though I have some buddies there there simply wasn’t a way to keep it.

So they gave you a new 22kw unit under warranty?

First time (last year) they gave me a new 22kw. This year it failed again and they gave me an 11kw + 1700 euro compensation.

Could have negotiated for the old broken 22kW as part of compensation. I’m honestly considering some sort of a deal where they let me try to fix my old one first. I’m still on my second 22kW OBC, but I know it will die (as will the 11kW, just sooner).

The 11KW will not die. They are working pretty well and stable. The 22kw was simply poorly engineered. As I said I asked but they refused.

Search this forum, people with 11kW have in reported having their OBCs die. In USA, Porsche additionally also limited 11kW OBC to 9.6kW via a recent over-the-air software update, presumably to extend their lifespan a little.

Does anyone know if the newer series is more reliable than older series? I got hold of the serienumbers old vs new and noticed hardware update / software update.
Did they perhaps update the MOSFETS as well in the newer / latest CH version? Perhaps @ct14garage has seen a couple of broken "CH" versions?
Very curious to hear any feedback on the reliability of later versions.....
