Are there "fresh irons" available in the size to mate with the PSCB rotor sizing?
My assumption - until proven otherwise - is that we might need calipers to complete the downgrade. But then you’re off the PSCB crazy train for good.

I do know iron rotors exist for the same wheel size, as my 23 GTS had iron brakes with red calipers. My 25 has PSCB with white calipers. Same wheels.

OP, were the PSCBs flagged as a potential issue at your 40,000 mile service?

Go PCCB......lol. At $13k, you're practically halfway there. If you don't track, you can source non OEM rotors for much cheaper.

Porsche has been trying to find a “holy grail” between the dusty std brakes that customers complain about and the noisy/temperamental composite brakes that customers REALLY complain about. The complaint levels are probably in the middle of the two….but certainly not the solution they were hoping for.

Are they?
I'm on PCCBs (49.000 km) and I have no problems whatsoever, neither in noise nor in performance.
Besides, brake squeal comes from pads that vibrate in high frequency, it has nothing to do with the disk itself, whether it's PCCB or PSCB.
A bit of lubrication on the contact surfaces of the calipers solves that "issue" right away.

The standard brakes are not dusty on the Taycan though, I have like zero dust on my wheels.
Maybe if you track it.

Posting this in case it helps anyone else dealing with the same issue.

My 2020 Taycan Turbo developed PSCB rotor coating failure....
Do you have any pictures you can show to provide context?

I've noticed that regen braking is disabled until after the first time brakes are used in a journey, and have (when I remember) made a point of braking reasonably hard on that first time every time I drive the car. Not sure if this actually helps but feels worthwhile.
Even if you set Recuperation to On at the beginning of the journey? Or only when Recuperation is Off (default every time the car turns on)?

Instead of paying $5-13k to avoid brake dust why not earmark $50/week for a nice hand wash plus the remainder of car is clean. Break even at 100 - 260 weeks.

That's using your noodle! And when the brakes do wear, you won't be broken financially to repair them.

I think it's fair to say PSCBs are kind of a failed experiment.
Many of us have had them forced on us due to wheel choice, but they really do not make sense.

Having just redone all of my brakes (on a brand new car, grr) I hope I don't need to change them for a long time, but when I do I will seriously explore the cost/benefit of "downgrading" to iron brakes.

My previous GTS had them. I preferred the red calipers and the dust never bothered me, as the wheels are black anyway.
👍🏾 This is why I specifically spec’d only the steel brakes. Cheers to the forum for talking me out of anything else. The brake dust is never so bad on these cars especially with the lack of use and regen.

For the dust… that’s why I pay for auto car wash subscription with unlimited use!

For the 971 iron option, shouldn't the pad and caliper size be the same as PSCBs?

Fwiw, I was looking into fitting Panamera Wheels on the Taycan, and they appear to be the same width and very close or same offsets

In theory there is, in practice nobody has tried yet.
There are 971 panamera discs that have equal thickness, diameter and bolt pattern. However, I don't know if the offset is the same.
This is for Taycan all years except 2020 right?

2020 had 415 x 38

Later years are 410x 38

Any options for 2020 year variant?

They were flagged when I took it in for an alignment few months after purchase. At that time, the warantee was over.
