@ct14garage has found a way to repair them, he discovered the issue in a detailed way.
I am aware, his posts inspired me to perhaps be ready for when mine dies to quick repair and put it back in. Even thought of proactively just replacing the transistors. His posts contain some details, but not all of them (like whether to replace just broken ones or all of then). I figured if I get a hold of a broken one, I can take my sweet time to practice on it. I’m thinking of maybe making the OBC serviceable by cutting open but then making an aluminum removable cover secured with screws and a gasket. All just ideas in my head at this point.

I would like to shed some light on this matter, as I am also going through this bad situation.

This is my second breakdown—the first occurred within a few days of picking up the car, and another one just over a year later.

I love this car, but love doesn't mean burying your head in the sand.

If you have already experienced this breakdown at least twice, and now, following Porsche's internal directives, they are proposing a downgrade to the 11kW charger, the path forward is quite clear.

1. Accept the downgrade—of course, they will refund the cost of the option upon your request (they won't do it voluntarily), even if you are not the first owner. Do not just settle for this small compensation; you can easily get 2k/3k in benefits as well, and then it's up to you to choose whether you want a 2/3-year warranty extension, service vouchers, etc.

2. Since this is a structural defect, and considering that even if they install another 22kW charger, the problem will recur, or if they offer you the downgrade to 11kW, it is a failure on their part. Therefore, you can request a buyback of the car at the purchase value, minus an amount relative to the mileage driven, which we can quantify at 0.30/0.35 cents per mile, even if you didn't buy it directly from Porsche but from a private seller.

This path is neither short nor simple, and it requires a lawyer. Naturally, they will tell you that it's not feasible and will probably laugh in your face, but they will stop doing so in front of a judge who will certainly rule in your favor. Because of this (and they know it very well), it rarely goes to trial; they will make you one or more offers much sooner.

Of course, they will make you sign an NDA, which is why you will rarely find cases online of cars bought back by Porsche, but there are far more of them than you think.

The choice is yours.

I chose option 2; as for the rest, I cannot say more because the matter is still ongoing.

Yea, Porsche is really betting on people not willing to go through the buyback route, because it takes time and effort. When it happens to me. I'd be curious if they are open to creative deals, or simply go with "take $2k/3k or go though the buyback process".

It's still insane that they developed a new 22kw charger for the Cayenne EV, but decided to not make it backwards compatible with the Macan/Taycan to avoid these buy back processes or compensation packages...

Porsche's decisions are so short sighted, and then they cover all these stupid decisions with "EV transition costs" in investor calls. Incompetent managers layered on top of one another taking stupid decisions.

I was pushing back and not accepting a downgrade. The OPC said they were trying to source me a working 22kW unit as I wasn’t accepting the downgrade. Certainly didn’t want that either!
