another 12V dead Tacan GTS

2y old car. Must be the 6-7th time this has happened. Ive had it from new.

THe Porchse recovery guy reckons there is a fault with the 12v battery as it accepts charge slowly at the start of the topping up process. After 5min it then behaves normally.

Keep taking it to main dealer who say the 12v is fine. Just needs software update which they have applied. Was serviced a few weeks ago and all the latest patches applied.

What a total PITA. My confidence in the brand is near shattered.

There was someone recently with the same problem where they determined that the battery drain was much higher than normal in sleep mode.

He also had the 12V go flat all the time.

Did you get the "low 12V battery warning"?

no warning. It did spend 2w telling me there was an OTA update to do with battery management. However last week that message stopped implying the update was successful

I've left the car for 2 weeks without an issue. I had bmw that would die every so often - bad battery

You definitely have some kind of underlying issue with the car, if your OPC can not find it maybe it's worth trying a different one...

I think the OTA update is for the high voltage battery not the 12v.
however there is an update relating to the 12v battery’s management system, done by the OPC. Search the forum for info. Have you had that one done?

Hi. My 4S died a week ago as well without any warning. The only thing I noticed was that there were several attempts to install WTS2 (I think) update and it was failing every single time (same as @tylerdurden). I suspect this was draining the battery. Anyway I successfully revived the car and charged battery with booster and charger. I hope it will be fine again…

So it was the charger unit. It failed and was replaced last year. New unit failed as well.

It was the 22kw charging unit that was an optional extra.

they have replaced the unit but downgraded it to the 11kw version and applied 12V update.

Let’s see how this goes
