Just out of interest, does anyone carry around the charge cable that came with the car? I’ve seen pics of the large bag that used to come with the car but I just got the one cable that I guess works with AC chargers. It’s been sat in the boot under the floor and I just can’t see me ever using it. I have a home charger and all the motorway stops in the UK and France all have rapid DV chargers. I guess if you head somewhere a bit remote or a hotel that has overnight charging but not a tethered one but otherwise seems a waste of space. Anyone actually ever had to use it?

I carry mine - useful for certain hotels and we stay monthly somewhere that doesn’t have tethered cables on the chargers. It sits under the boot floor along with a picnic blanket :)

yes, tethered chargers are the norm in most places. Where you need a Type 2 cable is typically on-street chargers, slow chargers in car parks, and hotels.
We tend to use CCS 150kW+ chargers on road trips but always carry the Type 2 (under the boot floor in that space which is otherwise pretty useless) in Europe and the UK in case we stop for lunch somewhere with a slower charger.

Yep, I use it at our office which has untethered chargers. Also occasionally use it at hotels

Dealer has mine at the moment as the 240 plug sensor failed and they are on back order. No eta at the moment. Luckily I had a home charger already.

Not sure which cable you mean but I have the Porsche charger in the Porsche cabinet. When I go on a long trip, I undock the charger, connect the 13A plug connector and take it with me. Not everywhere I stay has a fast charger nearby or is within walking distance of a slow charger.

I carry mine but not in the bag. It fits nicely in the small compartment in the trunk.

Yep that’s where mine is. Fits there really well. I guess it doesn’t really matter but I’m starting to think I’ll just never use it. The posts above are all good examples of when it could be used though but on a long road trip where I am not planning on destination charging ( with no idea on whether things are tethered or not) then I reckon I could leave it home and put other things in the small compartment. Reckon you could fit several bottles of French wine in there for example!

I have mine. I've never looked in the bag since I purchased the car. I hope something is in there..
Carrying the charging cable is a concept in Europe where at most outdoor parking spots and public structures there are AC chargers. However, in Europe, these charging nodes only have a plug receptacle (to cut down the cost of install), which requires each EV owner to bring their own charging plug, charger and cable.

So our charger bag and cable and even the way the PMCC is designed is for mobility. This is useless in the US as our AC chargers at destinations are full pedestals (think Chargepoints, Tesla Destination, etc). I have a separate 16amp charger (Aeroenviroment) that I take on my trips, and I've only used it once at a hotel that had a 120v plug.

here are some random pictures I found of parking structures in Europe, notice all the different color cables is bc each owner brought their own.

I always carry the type 2 cable in the frunk.
Lots of places in France don’t have a dc charger around but you can easily find a 22kw charger without a cable.
It’s always helpful for me.
Tomorrow before leaving for a 1000km trip I’ll plug it and be at 100% quickly while I’m working.

Yup. Carry the bag in the frunk in case of charging emergency. Never had to use it yet (knock on wood), so it's dead weight, but that's OK....

It's a shame we don't do this here. Would be a great solution in dense urban environments. Just adapt the light poles for charging...

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a "tethered" charger? Does "untethered" just mean the charging unit doesn't have a cable? That is you have to bring your own? If so, I've never seen one on the West Coast of the US.

I carry a Tesla mobile charger and adapter in my frunk simply because it's far smaller.
