Hi - 5 days into my new Taycan 4 CT - love the car. Already had a PCM crash; map lock up an oddities with the door locks. No issues - all sorted after a few mins. However, I have what appears to be rattles from the upper b pillars. To be honest, it could be the windows or rear doors. but wondered if anyone knew of any common issues? Car is so quiet that I can hear every tick, and I know that am OCD re rattles. But would love to solve these from both sides if there is a known issue or fix. Thanks.

Are you certain it's from the upper segment, and not a reflection?

I've endured a rattle somewhere in the B-pillar area for months now. It manifests itself on rough pavement only, and it disappears if I lean into the door/push it out with my elbow.

The cap at the end of the upper door trim (where the window slides in) is pressed into the long piece of trim, and is attached to it via a plastic 'cord' with an arrow-shaped ending. (I'll try and take some pictures, but think of the plastic attaching a price label to a garment.) I used a bunch of Noico on the cap itself, and also wrapped that plastic string with some thin foam. The rattling has subsided for now, although can still hear it ocasionally (and fainter).

I suspect the string rattles inside the opening it's inserted into, and the foam may have come loose. If it does get worse (it'll prove the theory and) I'll probably use some tape - or just cut the stupid thing.

Good luck, lmk if you'd like some pics.

I had really bad rattles from the passenger side. I took the door card and lower B pillar trim off and applied some bitumen-based sound deadening sheets. Dynamat is the most popular brand but I used Noico.

This cured it and so I did the drivers side as well.

Car is now silent.

Had this problem for months and it took two tries at the dealer to fix. First try was the B Piller, where I thought it was coming from. They replaced all the B Piller connectors, and it wasn't fixed. Second try did the trick:
  • "Removed and replaced the right door panel, placed a medium density block between the panel and felt liner near the armrest, rear center of door panel. Test drove the vehicle to verify the rattle has been eliminated."
Amazing how peaceful it is now! Good luck.

I had a similar issue. The dealer ended up taking the driver's side B pillar apart and adding extra sound proofing material. It's quieter now, but on really rocky pavement I can hear some rattles.

I find if bang the b pillar and the top of the drivers side door (where it meets bottom of window) the rattling goes away for a while. It’s not consistent enough to take in

I have this too. Driver side only on rough roads especially when changing lane and crossing over the cat's eyes! Been into dealer and, Of course, it didn't do it. Living it with just now and is intermittent

For anyone who fancies sorting this as a DIY, it’s the easiest door panel to remove on any car I’ve ever had. Juts two screws and the whole thing lifts off. There’s none of the traditional clips. It’s a much better design.

Thanks - do you have any pictures where the screws are?

I have an annoying one also. Had the car 3 weeks and theres a rattle coming from the rear seat, roof or inside the boot. Cant locate it as yet but annoying over the rough surfaces which are plentiful in the west of Scotland.

I had this problem when going over construction joints in the road or changing lanes. Thankfully I worked it out just before my booking at dealer. It turned out to be self inflicted. I has removed the plastic trim above the rear view mirror to run two cables to my A139Pro dashcam. The power lead has a large ferrite ring 100mm from the connector so by running the cables through the overhead panel this was hidden.... however it was this that was bouncing on the hard plastic cover on rough roads ?
I also has not properly refitted the trim with one clip not properly secured but I hadn’t spotted this as it was on the passenger side adjacent to the windscreen.
I'd spent weeks trying to identify where the rattle was coming from... door cars, B pillar, dash ?

Thanks. I've done no mods so no self inflicted reason

After several weeks, I found the route cause.
There was several dried leafs/ pieces of twig in the boot catch. A clear out and spray of WD-40 & hey presto…. The rattle has gone. Was the boot catch all along!
