@PhileasFrog
The 1/2/24 recall end date seems to coincide with j1.2 production start.
I think c.125k J1.1 models were sold worldwide.

VIN lookup (https://recall.porsche.com/prod/pag/vinrecalllookup_V3.nsf/VIN?ReadForm&c=usa) states:

"There are currently no open recalls for this vehicle."
Look at the last 3 letter of that link - that will only show VINs from USA.

You might want to check here: https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall, not that you'll find anything useful.

Note also that some of the things discussed here on the forum Porsche refers to as "campaigns", so they're not officially "recalls" and therefore not considered to be a safety risk.

Is it the case that it is specific Vin Nos. ? Are there folk who have NOT had a letter..........
I’ve not seen a VIN range for UK cars.
Although I have received the ARB6 recall, neither the Porsche GB or the Gov recall checker currently show any outstanding recalls for my car. So they’re not a reliable indicator. I recall that was also the case initially for last years ARA4 battery module replacement recall.

You’d assume that the public facing Porsche site and any internal system used by dealers/Porsche Customer service would have the same data, but if you’ve not received a recall letter, it may be worth contacting
Porsche Customer Relations on 03457 911 911 or email [email protected] or phone your dealer.
To manage workloads, perhaps issue of the letters and update of recall system data is being phased.

From the recurring recalls and charging constraints, it seems that software analysis of cell condition is valid only for the duration of the check - it does not mean that a fault will not occur at a future point - and this isn’t going away, even after module replacement.

in my case, installation of the monitoring sw was notified as workshop campaign WRS0 last December, for implementation 2025 q1. No charging level or location constraints were communicated then, these were notified when it was escalated to a recall. UK Product Safety law requires manufacturers/importers to report safety issues and recall requirements to the relevant regulator, in the UK, the DVSA. The regulator for each country determines what action and usage constraints should occur. The latest very restrictive charging conditions now required by the DVSA shows their assessment of the risk - and perhaps how well Porsche is handling it. The US and EU regulatory regimes and their political influences differ.

I haven't had the more extreme letter.

My first service took place in early January and they kept the car a few days to do some checks and report to Porsche then told me the car was signed off to be returned, they did update some software but told me the monitoring software due in Q1 2025 was unlikely to arrive before the end of that quarter and we now know it is further delayed.

Basically I am treating my car as I always have, normally charging at home to 80% and using a timer to get to 100% if going for a long journey set for departure time to minimise deterioration at full charge.

@urzwoo
You should determine the impact of each recall - & the usage constraints that Porsche/the safety authority in your country seeks to levy upon the owner.

My UK ARA4 recall was completed July-August 24. Analysis of the car’s logs showed one module needed replacing and the others were ok. I thought that was it.

Last week I received the ARB6 recall. Its impacts are:
- do not charge under/in or adjacent to a building
- workshop attention every 60 days
- maximum charge 80%

From this it seems that the ARA4 recall and Porsche’s previous analysis, both OTA and the VAL submission that was the basis of the module replacement cannot be relied upon.
The delay in availability of the ‘smoke alarm’ monitoring sw also seems to indicate that its development is troublesome.

- Has any one else who has already had a module swap recall now received ARB6?
- Compared to mine above, do the constraints notified differ by country?
Updated UK ARB6 Recall and Charging Constraint Advice

Since the post above, understandably, it is evident that different ArB6 recall information is being sent according to diiferent regulator demands in different territories.
For reasons which they have not been prepared to or able to communicate, Porsche GB had issued different ARB6 charging constraints to different UK Taycan owners. Similarly some owners with cars which supported OTA remote battery condition monitoring received the much less impactful ARB7 recall while others like myself were placed in the ARB6 camp.

The intial ARB6 advice to me, relayed from the UK DVSA safety authority, was:
not to charge the vehicle under cover and/or to ensure the vehicle is not parked adjacent to or under buildings.”
I challenged the Porsche GB CEO office on this because the restriction effectively meant the vehicle could not br charged anywhere. Contrary to UK consumer legislation this made the vehicle unfit for purpose.
After some ‘toing and froing’ they have issued the amended ARB6 recall advice below. The key parts are in bold.
The major change is that the car can be charged in a garage or car park or near buildings—so long as it is not charged above 80%.
Whilst this relaxation is good news, the new Porsche GB advice now differs from the safety authority’s advice. I’m checking that with the DVSA CEO’s office and will update later.

Porsche GB have also said that the campaign can be changed from ARB6 to ARB7 - this requires a Porsche Centre to enable certain settings. My understanding is that whilst the 80% charge limit would still apply, this would remove the requirement for a workshop check every 60 days.

Hope this is helpful to others. In my opinion the original advice from Porsche GB was untenable. I’m glad I was able to persuade them down a different path so I can continue to use (charge) and enjoy the car.

The advice from Porsche not to charge inside or park near buildings has never been included in ARB6 recall owner notices sent to US Taycan owners. Thanks for following up and determining the origin of this advice.

Updated UK ARB6 Recall and Charging Constraints

IMG_4055.webp
Interim updates on post #131 above:
(1) I’m awaiting confirmation on whether the ARB6 > 7 switch has happened.
(2) The Uk safety regulator DVSA has told me to ignore the ARB6 charging location relaxation issued to me by Porsche GB (above).
The regulator’s position is that the Charging location restriction communicated in the ARB5 and ARB6 recalls still stands - do not charge under cover, or adjacent to or inside buildings. The regulator will report back to me further once they’ve had a reply from Porsche GB.

This is all so weird. Here in the Netherlands (as far as I'm aware) no Taycan owner has had any letter or communication about ARB6/7 or any of the workshop actions to install monitoring software. We've also not bee told to limit charging or charge location.

I'm driving to the UK next week and, as far as I'm aware, I can (and will) be charging as normal for the duration. Just goes to show how sloppy Porsche have been with this whole debacle.
