I'm having trouble updating my Porsche Charger Connect. I'm on quite an old version of the firmware 2925.

The latest is version 2934. It unpacks the zip, but then fails. I've tried multiple browsers and factory resets.

I've been in touch with Porsche connected services and my OPC, neither of them have the expertise to resolve it and each have passed me back to the other.

Does anyone have a previous version of the firmware saved somewhere which I can try upgrade to first?

The Porsche website says that 2934 can be installed on any previous version, but that's not the case for me.

I have also tried:

- Connecting via the customer services account to update
- Connecting via home user to update
- Connecting via direct wifi connection
- Connecting via 5GHz and 2.4Ghz
- Full factory reset (multiple times)
- Changing browser (I have tried Chrome, Firefox and Safari)

There is a console error when I try install the package via the web app (screenshot attached).

not sure why you'd want the later software - the PMCC is a very troublesome EVSE … is there a specific feature you're looking for with the newer software - North American or EU?

https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...uide-to-the-porsche-evse-pmc-pmcc-pwcc.13886/
It was mainly because my current version is too old to communicate with the car, so I get a notification message every time I use it. I think one of the firmware updates was also a safety update too?

I got this email through telling me to update it, which is what prompted me as I charge inside the garage with it under the house so I don't want a fire :) I'll check out your link thank you

Are you able to download an interim version? You might be able to make it work by jumping through smaller version increments.

That was my plan, I am hoping someone on this forum has an earlier version of the file. On the support dashboard you can only install the latest.

Don't bother with the update as you aren't missing out. If your PMCC is functioning fine then leave well enough alone.

It's a great EVSE IMHO and mine has been 100% trouble free for 3+ years.

If anyone's interested or comes across this on Google, I had a read through the compiled Javascript errors on my Porsche Charger Connect when trying to update and found the issue. Previous versions of the upgrades must have been in a .bz2 zip compression, the latest one from the Porsche website is a .zip or .tar file.

To resolve, rename your downloaded file from:

update-VR_J1_15.1_2934-009.00062.004-08.09.2021_plasystemd.tar (or .zip)
to
update.bz2

Then It will update :)

Hope I don't regret the upgrade! I'll report back if I spot any differences.

The upgrade was well worth doing for me, it connects to the cloud now and the notification about communication error isn't on display every time I go into the garage. I believe when the notification was shown, it was also preventing my charger from going into sleep mode when inactive.

My charging history is now displaying on the web URL and I was able to link my charger to my MyPorsche account.

Most importantly for me, my Octopus Intelligent connection is working correct now too so my Utility company can initiate the charge when they want to charge my car on the peak rates, this wasn't working before, I'm not sure if this a change their end, or because the charger is now linked to my account and connected to my house wifi:

Good to hear. Out of interest which software version is your PMCC now running?

Hi Adrian I am now on:

Software version 2934

I've submitted the findings to Porsche CIC Smart Mobility to implement a fix to the website. Previously their replies were useless and not helpful, telling me to ask my dealership for help. Good to know that they take feedback and suggestions on board

The new app update shows more info about your charges if you use the Mobile Charger Connect.

Not sure what has been updated / added but this level of detail has been there for quite some time. Also visible from My Porsche app.

I have a PMCC and have used these views quite a lot.

Oh that’s interesting to know, they’ve only just started showing up for me, possibly one of their bug fixes! Apologies I thought it was new functionality :)

@Jamesfawcett - I think I'm in the same position as you were at the start of this thread - on v2925, unable to get the PMCC to connect to the internet, and so unable to see charging history in the app..

Were you able to obtain a file with v2934 to apply the update yourself manually?
If so, and if you still have the file, would you mind making it available to me?
I could DM you with either a Onedrive folder to upload to, or give you my email address.

When I try to dowload updates manually. using https://contact.porsche.com/middle-east/_uae_/accessoriesandservice/porscheservice/software-update/
- it cannot find my device serial number. That could be my next problem.

Or another later version
