honestly you'll be fine. Go in the charge settings and select minimum charge state of arrivals at something more conservative, i.e. 10%-20% and the navigation will take care of trip planning for you.

It could be worse. I picked up my Taycan in rural Montana (USA). After charging in town (at 150kw speeds), I had to drive 200 miles to the next DC charger, and when it arrived, it worked beautifully.

Well, all I can say is WHAT A CAR! :D Never before have I enjoyed a 250 mile drive up the M40/M6 in my life!

Beautiful car.

As for my charging strategy - thanks for all your advice and comments here, all entirely sensible. I read through the thread several times on the train this morning, planned where I'd stop, noted how to setup PCM. And then when I got in the car at the showroom after sorting the details, just fiddled with it for 5 mins and set off!!!! ? Just one stop auto suggested by the route planner! Not my smartest move!

Anyway, it was fine - I was (over?)confident and made it to Stafford with 'a bit' remaining - see pic (right boot may have been a little heavy at times!). I think it kinda proves that there's no need to worry about it too much - at least in the UK - it seems there are chargers everywhere at services.

Used Gridserve there to top up to about 120 miles worth before setting off again - it charged slowly at 30Kw - probably something I did wrong or used the wrong chargers - i asked another guy if he knew how to help, but he was clueless (he had a Tesla). But it didn't matter 'cause I needed food and a break anyway.

Later this evening after I'd already been home I tried some Ionity chargers nearer my house and couldn't get them to work with the My Porsche app and Porsche charging - I'll have to investigate. I'll have plenty of time whilst it charges on my 3 pin plug!!!

I love the car and the colour has even grown on me too. It's too dark for photos now, but I'll post some tomorrow. ?

Congratulations on your new car.
I know what you mean when you say what a car. I have had mine for over a year now and still look forward to every time I drive it. There just seems to be a certain feeling with the car which is hard to describe. I think it is a combination of the great driving dynamics, extremely smooth ride and that feeling of driving the best electric car in my opinion. I have noticed that the charging infrastructure has improved a lot over the last year, so I think range anxiety is not something to worry about so much anymore.
I hope you have fun in your new car. Welcome to the Taycan experience.

Do you already have your Porsche charging service card? Normally takes 10 days or so to turn up. If not, in the meantime you could try Electroverse.

I was brought up in the Fylde and now live near Oxford so that is close to the route I do. There are plenty of chargers on the motorway routes now IME, it is more limiting on country routes which I much prefer, particularly in the Taycan - a motorway seems such a waste of fun in such a car.
Enjoy!

Ahh yeah, I think I saw that later last night when investigating. There was a card in the car that didn't work (last owner's I guess), so I suppose I'll need to wait for that. A bit of a pain as it's the next two weeks I need it most before my charger is installed really. Not the end of the world though, I'll keep using Electroverse for now or just tap my bank card!

Edit: Just seen I got an email about it at 1am saying it will be with me in 5-10 days.

Check the App, once you've got the email it appears in the App very quickly and you can use the App to start charging or at Ionity just plug in and it will start charging after about 50 seconds but make sure you have checked Plug and Charge in the car under Charging

I would advise to use the standard tools with the Taycan - you've paid for the Porsche Charging Planner and it is integrated with the rest of the car - not least NAV.

Learn the settings and in particular the desired battery State of Charge (SoC) at destination as this determines the number of stops and how long to charge each time.

Use your My Porsche App for charging - planning, session control, payment (many options - Ionity, Gridserve, MFG, Osprey and so on).

You must have had all of the recalls performed. My car currently restricts charging to a top limit of 80%. I think Porsche did that over the air because my profile has always been set at 85% unless planning a long trip where I would go to 100%. Can't get past 80% at the present.

You'll be fine. Right after I bought my J1, I took it on a 1100 mile round trip. Dove right in to the deep end. No problem as I just did what the Porsche nav told me to do....

Enjoy!
So you're under ARB6 instead of ARB7?
And when you select Direct Charging, the charging still tops out at 80%?

Great colour choice, but I am biased as mine is Neptune blue too.

Glad you’re enjoying it!

Some great advice on this thread and the whole forum as well. This car, although great, is the only car I have ever owned that needs you to study the manual so much or regularly search here as it’s got some quite quirky features, that nearly a year on I’m still learning about!

Hi - Hope the new car is going well. I have a 4s CT, and regularly travel from near Guildford to the NW (Chester). Even in the coldest depths of winter Stafford Ionity is an easy reach and if you've pre-heated the battery by putting the charger into the sat nav, you won't have time for a coffee before you will be on your way. You have probably worked this out already though by now!
