Anyone try asking Porsche dealers or corporate whether or not Taycans without the recall are safe for track use? If not, do they provide loaners for the track if they cannot complete the Taycan recall? Porsches are cars sold as very track capable cars, right? Or has marketing switched to Porsche cars as status symbol and garage decorations (so only parking brakes needed to keep the car from rolling away while on display)?

I understand that all Taycans manufactured before 14 Jun 24 are affected.

Thanks. I was reading from the US NTHSA doc. Maybe RHD cars were fixed sooner.

Would not trust DVSA to be accurate. They currently show NO RECALL for any Turismo variant................................................................ The spelling of which is offered in two variations on the site..............

The DVSA site shows the recalls for my model but none if I search by reg number.

The screenshot of the DVSA letter that I posted in the link is not from the DVSA website.

It is from a DVSA formal/ written letter to the Transport Secretary department (in response to a question from the Transport Secretary)
I would hope that it is accurate... else a few heads will roll.

By pure coincidence we have just got a brake recall letter through for wife's BMW.

1 letter each within the same week.

2 expensive German cars that aren't safe to drive.
And BMW haven't got the parts either. ?

My brakes failed today.
A red message flashed up along the lines of:

PCM alert - park up safely.

The brakes went soft and juddered like Abs kicking in even though I was going less than 5 mph.

I am now waiting for Porsche Assist.

Ridiculous car this is turning out to be.
Can you provide more details? Was this a complete failure or partial? Did you have any brakes? How did you stop the car? Did you have the recall done yet?

My brakes have been shit since I got the car but I assumed that was just the way the car operated. It was only through these forums I came to know there is a software update for the brakes which should address the exact issue I’m facing. I’ve had the car in for service 6 times since I got it Dec 22 (it’s a 2023). Can’t get the brake recall done because of lack of parts.
I will be returning and demanding the brake software update.
The brake issues I’m facing
- spongy pedal feel when switching from regen to mechanical
- inconsistent response with mechanical brakes
- sometimes mechanical brakes don’t seem to respond and require what I consider excessive pedal travel before the car will stop

I’ve also noticed a sensation that the car is lurching forward while slowing down from highway speeds which I assumed was the car shifting from 2 to 1 and not having regen during the second that the transmission is shifting. I hate this feeling because it feels like you have no brakes for a second. Now I’m wondering if this is an issue with the brakes. Do others experience this?

I was pulling up to a give way at a very low speed - exiting a car park onto a main road.

As I went to brake (at say 5 mph) the brake pedal went soft and nothing happened.
Immediately brake pedal juddered and then the brakes kicked in (dry tarmac) and then it stopped, with a slight overshoot.

The red message came up, but I had to continue as traffic was behind me.
I was close to home, so tested brakes (ok) and drove back very carefully.

Assumed it was the hoses, but no loss of fluid?

Called Porsche Assist who took it to the dealers who did whatever they did and it also jumped the queue on the recall.

Not sure exactly what the issue was, or the fix. But I don't think it was the hoses.

Only time it's ever happened and has been fine since.

I've not noticed any of those things.
My brakes have been good apart from the one issue.

RWD / Std brakes.

This kind of sounds like you hit slippery surface and your ABS turned on. When there’s no traction brake pedal can travel excessively and then the jittering you describe is the ABS doing its job. The fact that the car then stopped on dry pavement indicates the brakes were working.
What’s your tire tread like?
