As suspected but now finally confirmed it is a failure of the "high-voltage booster" and its inability for its internals to switch into DC fast charge mode – keeping the CP line at 9V.
Is the part that failed a part of, or related to, the 22kw AC charger on the car? In other words is the 22kw AC charger part of the cause of this problem?
What does "keeping the CP line at 9V" mean?

As I understand it, the problem involved failures with both DC and AC charging at times, right?

Nothing related to the 22 kW AC charger which has been rock solid in this car and since the software update in my previous Taycan that had so many issues with it.

At no stage did my AC charging fail – which is one of the reasons it took me a while to notice this DC charging issue. I had not been going on longer trips with the car and when I went to the west of Ireland (where I'm from) to family for Christmas – the issue was noticed.

This is the DC Booster (I've the 150 kW version because there is still a lot of 400V chargers here in Ireland). A lot of charging runs on a analog monitoring of a control pilot (CP) line that uses different low voltages to communicate meaning. A lot of comms between AC EVSE's and DC chargers is done by setting voltages on a CP line pin – rather than digital comms that you might expect!

Here is a good introduction:

Great video!

Do you know of a similar video that deals with connection and disconnection protocol for a NACS connector? I'm curious has to how the car and EVSE communicate connection status absent a release button.

Update of my charging issues.
after several tests, still no solution.
By now, it’s confirmed that AC on passengers’ side doesn;t work properly.
It failed on two different chargers (one public and one at dealers), on AC only, while DC works well (on the same port, on passenger’s side).

Today, red button appears on charging door, but not on the screen in the car. After few minutes, it changed to white, then became again and charging continues (at 20-21kw).

When I came back home, i started to charge (14A, 3-phases), but it was charging few minutes only (up to 6,1kw), then red button again & red error on mobile charger. Also red error on the screen in the cabin.
After few minutes (i was waiting if it willstart charging as an hour ago at dealer’s), i plugged-off mobile charger from the grid…plugged-in and it started up to 6kw again….sometimes went down to 2kw….and it’s still working. After 4 hours, Soc is 71% right now, so about 27% in 4 hours and 20 minutes….

interesting thing is that on driver’s port, I can charge 9kw (at home, 14A, 3phases) without any problems. Also 22kw workedusing this port, that’s why dealer didn’t find any problems last week. They simply plugged-in and it worked as designed….

so, saga continues….next scheduled meeting: February 19.

In other words, or, to make long story short:
1. On driver’s side: AC charging works up to 22kw
2. On passenger’s side: AC stops after few minutes, then it works up to 6kw only, while DC works fine (tested up to 75kw).

I know from experience on this thread – unreliable or inconsistent failures on charging are really hard to debug and get fixed. I only saw DC failures over 200 kW – so don't rule out that your DC is "perfect". It might be worth the drive to Bled to test the IONITY there!!

Feb 19 sounds like a long time away.

Well, i’m retired, so i don’t have lots of time to drive arround :giggle:
But i do agree, it’s good idea to try Ionity somewhere :like:

Final update

Collected car today after Porsche Centre Dublin worked on it this week, including doing latest software updates and HV Battery Leak test (it passed).

Drove to what has become my IONITY test bed and charging went perfectly.

We set off for Norway on Sat morning!
