Ho much you paid for it?
Why would you sell it?
I have paid MSRP for my Turbo going into it with a mindset of long term hold and not worry about depreciation.
I probably won’t sell ….only other vehicle I would consider getting back into for DD is model S plaid. Overall was best car I owned.

...
Almost 50% depreciation in little over a year.
That's not depreciation, that's just a ridiculous offer.
On the other hand, most high-end cars loose half of their value in the first 4-5 years, always has been.

So, if you don't want any depreciation: don't sell it.
Simple.

Just went through this. Wanted to trade my Taycan for a Macan EV. If Porsche won't give a value on a trade that makes sense, then I don't have to play their game.

I had my Porsche dealer offer me $39000. Sold it to Carvana for $45,000.

So Porsche folks don't even value their own products...

It’s no secret that trade ins are the lowest value choice. And about Carvana, consider what may be left on the table…. Carvana offered me $21k for my M5, which I priced and sold at $36k. They ask for a BIG cut.

Probably should have leased?
I was planning to trade in my 2025 Taycan CT.
One year and three months old.
Cost €150,000.
I am extremely happy with it. No issues whatsoever.
Was planning to upgrade to the current model / looks like I will have to buy another brand sports car.
Any suggestions! I was going to add 4 wheel steering/ sports seats and a few more extras.
Trade in value after a little over a year and 15,000 kms €80,000.
That’s some depreciation. And I believe that EV ‘s and increasing in value due to the increasing cost of fuel 🤷‍♂️.
And that’s with a Porsche main dealer , where I purchased it.
Very disappointing.
Almost 50% depreciation in little over a year.
Thanks in advance 🤔
I think everybody that had done any kind of research would know that depreciation was an issue with the Taycan. It’s a known fact that businesses; esp in the UK would lease them out just to write off the loss.
For me though, after driving the car (especially on twisty roads) I felt that it was totally worth the money I would lose but I guess that’s an individual decision based on a lot of factors. I would advise to keep it unless you really want an ICE sports car to replace it.

Curious what model is exactly, is it a RWD or 4S and J1.1 orJ1.2 ? I thought the 2025 's, J1.2 at least were holding their values a bit better.

If you are going to bedazzle your Porsche with various trinkets, it’s best to go with someone other than Porsche for the trade. You will get more from those that are not purists for the brand.

I’ve experienced the same crushing depreciation with my Taycan. The blame lies squarely with Porsche and its indecisive EV strategy. The company has effectively shelved the 718 EV, taken a lackadaisical approach to improving the Taycan, and allowed competitors to surpass it in performance, range, and—most importantly—price. Most damaging of all, Porsche has projected a lack of vision and commitment to its electric future, undermining consumer confidence and accelerating depreciation across its EV lineup.

The fault lies entirely with Porsche‘s shortsighted management who have not only crushed the value of our cars, they have torpedoed their dealers and tarnished the brand.

Amen, brother, Amen. Very well said!

A company that prided itself on a long term view has fallen into the short-term approach (e.g. save money on customer service: great in the short-term BUT it has cost them the future business of this long-term Porsche supporter).

It's not Porsche, its management, or their strategy. It's a luxury EV. The below is from Claude on 5 yr depreciation of Taycan peers. Any EV has much steeper depreciation than ICE equivalent. This is one of the key reasons to lease instead of buying EVs, along with rapid technology implementation change year-to-year.
-------------
Here's how the Taycan stacks up against its closest luxury-EV rivals on 5-year depreciation, based on iSeeCars' current data (which analyzes actual used-market pricing against original MSRP):

5-year depreciation rate (lower = better retention)

Model5-yr DepreciationValue Retained
Porsche Taycan~59.1%~40.9%
Tesla Model S~65.1%~34.9%
Mercedes EQS~73.3%~26.7%
BMW i5~73.1%~26.9%
BMW i7~77%~23%
A few things worth knowing as you read this:

The Taycan actually holds value best in this group. The BMW i7 loses about 77 percent of its value over 5 years versus 59.1 percent for the Taycan — a 17.9 percentage point gap in Porsche's favor. Similarly, the Mercedes EQS loses about 73.3 percent versus the Taycan's 59.1 percent, a 14.2 point advantage for the Taycan. And the Tesla Model S loses roughly 65.1 percent compared to the Taycan's 59.1 percent — a smaller but still real 6-point edge for Porsche.

That's counterintuitive given how the Taycan is talked about. It's still one of the steepest-depreciating cars overall — luxury vehicles and EVs dominate the worst-depreciation lists, and EVs as a segment lose around 57% of value on average over 5 years — but within the six-figure luxury-EV sedan class specifically, it's the least bad of the bunch, not the worst.

i’m not seeing those type of numbers on Taycan from retail buyers or places such as Carvana, etc.
more like 65-67%

Agreed! I believe that if Porsche and its management team had shown a clear, unwavering commitment to EVs instead of dithering, the Taycan—and Porsche’s entire EV lineup—would have experienced far less depreciation. Instead, Porsche appears to be thrashing about, uncertain how it intends to compete in an electric future. That lack of vision and commitment undermines confidence in the brand, weakens the market for its EVs, and ultimately erodes the value of our cars.
