EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

I still have it, it only works when you have enough energy to do a rount trip.

I did a road trip of about 1500km last week, and the nav crashed three times. So the problem does not seem to be resolved. Good news though is that it recalculates the route within 5–10 seconds. And that the PCM is still usable.

After driving 1500km, I can only say, wow, what a vehicle. I accept the SW shortcomings due to the fact that it drives so well. Yesterday I drove around in Monaco. I can't believe how many boys (age 12–30) were amazed by the car and took pictures. My wife, two daughters (4 and 6 y) and I got filmed during parking and leaving the car. In a place full of ICE hypercars, it was my wagon Porsche getting all the attention.

Sounds like a lovely trip @Jasper4S the Taycan can hold its own anywhere. I find it can even at our local Padel club

Today I also played around with the PID a bit and to my surprise that works fine now on roads with a dayspeed and night speed. No more speed changes. I assume this is also since the update?

PID / CC is still not my cup of tea though

Nice find. I did not notice it last months - so that could confirm it

Got the update to 3892 three weeks ago, it has been flawless since then and the navy and noticeably quicker.

The real test will be the next 2 weeks: going for a road trip from my home town in France, up to Saint-Malo, then ferry to pool and around Cornwall, then come back. Should be around 1500 kms so I'm relying on the nav to actually work

Not quite sure why Porsche are saying to me that this fix is not successful and so they are waiting for a new one from Porsche Germany when so many people on here are saying it fixed the problem.

Weird. Maybe some open corner case? The fix does work for me though.

3892 has obviously dramatically improved the situation, but a couple of people have reported issues after the update on here.

If Porsche know 3892 is not the final solution, maybe we’ll see another update, which I would see as normal after roll out of such a big fix. We might get lucky and have continuous improvements OTA

I just got home from a 3300km roadtrip through Germany, Austria and Italy - And then back. Overall the navigation is much improved in the sense that it does not "stick" anymore so no more missed turns etc. I had one crash on the trip but after a reboot it worked just fine again.

There is clearly quite a bit of changes and not all of them are good. The nav seems now incredibly bad at finding the charge locations I want. In the "old" days I used the method described on this forum where you set you end destination and then put in the charge stops backwards. Usually I would just add the chargers to my favorites and select "chargers nearby" and there I would see the actual charger and be able to select it. That almost never works now. Even when you put in the address of a Porsche charging lounge it was unable to find the actual charger.

BUT instead the integration with the app seems MUCH better. I can plan all the stops easily in the app and select to persist specific chargers. When I send that to the car I now get the option to also include the charge planning. And when done that way it always finds the chargers correctly which makes the planning actually work. You can see number of free chargers and the battery preheat/cools as it should.

I'm uncertain how the app integration worked before but I don't remember it being that good. I actually now rely more on the My Porsche app than ABRP as I can just as easily find my preferred stops there and send directly to the car.

I've just returned from a 1700-mile road trip through France and can report that the update has certainly fixed all the sat nav issues. The system worked perfectly without a glitch for the entire trip. Route planning was very quick to calculate, charging stops added using the Porsche Charging Service, and live traffic issues displayed along the route were accurate. The option to select your preferred charging network(s) is a nice touch too. Making adjustments en route didn't cause any issues either, as it did previously. Overall, the Nav and PCM are working perfectly now. Very impressed with the update. Well worth getting the update from your local dealer ASAP.

Like others have said, the car drives beautifully, but what let it down was the poor tech/PCM. Now the tech works, I can't fault this car. It really is superb for long journeys and at the same time great fun on a back road blast. A real all-rounder. Another plus for road tripping is the charging speed. 16 mins at Ionity to charge from 10% to 85% is crazy fast. This is the second long trip we've done through France (the first with the old nav not working). Not sure my marriage would have lasted another trip with faulty nav. The update came along just in time!! It's a real shame they had the issue in the first place, but well done to Porsche for developing a proper update and fix.

I think there's a cohort of Taycans with the same h/w and s/w 4xxx that don't experience the same issues (one, possibly two on here seem to have different issues).

The real solution was to merge branches fully. Instead of creating yet another.

Ah, I assumed those early j1.2 had slightly upgraded hardware to run 4xxx. If not then yeah a merge would be preferable, but maybe there are other interdependencies in addition to the “buy an updated car” attitude.
