Handover - What was your experience like?

I thought I would start a thread about the Porsche handover experience. I'm new to Porsche and found the whole experience to be really nice. For starters, the car was covered and there was a stand next to the car congratulating us, with all of our names on there. My SA was really helpful, did the reveal, which was such a nice touch, showed us around the vehicle, helped us to get set up, and at the end handed my wife a beautiful bouquet of flowers, in a Porsche branded box (of course), and some really nice goodies, including some model Taycans for the kids, a nice Taycan pen, a branded mug, plus some other bits and bobs. I was really impressed with the thought that went into the whole experience. Not forgetting the Silverstone experience booked in for Feb. In my previous car, a BMW X5 45e it was outside in the rain, a quick overview and off we went. The only one that came close was when we purchased an Audi TT about 14 years ago. They made the experience really nice for us. I like the fact that they are making the experience personal to you. I appreciate this is a luxury car, but they do seem to manage this really well. What are your experiences?

I had this experience pretty much as described back in January 2023 with a new Taycan Turismo. Very nicely done. So far I have not had the Silverstone experience!
This does occur with other dealers. I had a similar experience with my purchase of a SAAB 9000 in 1988 in Belgium: flowers for my wife and also, as I drove off there was a thumping at the rear of the car. Stopped, opened the boot to see what had happened and there was bottle of Ruinart champagne!

Got to the dealers 5 mins early to see the car being finalised and having its cover put on so sort of spoilt the surprise.

Then finding out as i’d been classed as a potential fraud due to the photo id sent of my driving licence earlier in the week, that bringing my physical licence was fine but the fraud department didn’t open Saturdays so couldn’t take off the fraud flag and approve. So couldn’t take the car.

All sorted Monday morning, go over in the afternoon and as I go to do the handover a van outside of the road catches fire and everyone (me included) is fixated on what’s happening for 20 mins while other staff help support the guy.

Safe to say an experience I won’t forget.

I got that massive Porsche mug (which my wife laughed and said was symbolic) and two leather key rings.

Also got a set of rubber interior mats for the hassle.

To be fair I couldn’t fault Leeds Porsche it was a real mess up at the finance end that sort of caused.

Good to see that the dealer looked after you. Nice to hear that you got the rubber mats. Nice touch.

I remember you saying about this. Not the best start to ownership but glad it got sorted quickly.

Mine was off-loaded from a delivery truck in a pub car park by my house on a wet October morning. No fault of the dealer, I should add, it was how the lease company had it sent to me. Was still childishly excited even so!

Bought my Taycan sight unseen. Never even set foot in the dealership and the car was delivered to me on a covered wagon. In spite of that, there was nice food hamper and bottle of wine in the boot. Very happy ?

My lease company are happy to allow me to pick mine up from the supplying dealer Porsche Reading, which is luckily only a few miles from me.

Staged unveiling with an extensive explanatory tour + 2 Roederer Champagne bottles, Taycan branded + a superb bouquet of flower + the Taycan box for the smart keys and the leather registration poach.
Great moment.

I didn't want anything, just my car. Car was parked outside, SA came with me to show me a couple things like helping me log in and all that. Handed me the keys and I was gone in less than 5 minutes. Just two keys and a folder with some paperwork.

I had a similar experience to the OP but have had the same with numerous Audis and JLR over the years too including the reveal etc (though better gifts from Audi).

the champagne and flowers was a very nice gesture of appreciation.

the salesman delivered the car to my home, the only gifts were the pen and a key chain.

I went the opposite way of most folks on this site. I am “a bit detail oriented” when it comes to paint finish and cosmetics. I refused to let the dealer touch/prep it. I had my car picked up by my detailer via a closed flat-bed truck. The dealer insisted on taking the plastic off the outside but I would not let them wash it. The full interior was still covered in plastic from the factory. My detailer did the first wash, paint correction, full PPF, ceramic coating on the paint, windows and wheels, and tints. My actual delivery was from the detailer. This is a bit extreme and I cant necessarily recommend to everyone but like I said, I am ”a bit detail oriented”. The actual dealer handover was quick, I handed them a check and they handed me the keys and some trinkets which are still in the bag from over a year ago. ?
