Got an update on my heater case.

My service center replaced it twice and reached out to Porsche for help.
The diagnosis was that the first replacement managed to blow an 80 amp fuse on the "high voltage booster."

I do not know if this is the 150kW/400V upgrade, or something else. But we’re waiting on that part now.

Car has been in for a week.

Bad luck I guess with a bad part? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do we need a forum badge?
Actually, it might make more sense to give a badge to people who have not had a failed heater. Seems like that will become more rare as time goes by.

Got my car back \ o / Total cost to Porsche for two heater replacements and the HV booster replacement was something like $9500. (Warranty for me)

Apparently the first part was bad and killed the fuse in the HV booster.
So no quality control at the factory? Or heater design that passes QC but fails days later? Or was it damaged during shipping or installation?

What I was told was bad part, the first in North America, they said.

Glad you got yours back. Got my recall email and scheduled to bring it on Feb 5th. Hopefully, mine will go smoothly.

So we don't have a lot of information, but "first one in NA" implies there might have been other bad parts which made it passed factory QC. I hope Porsche is compensated for the full cost of replacement (service, loaners, tows, retrieval/shipping back home, etc) of the heaters by the heater supplier, not just "you get a free replacement part for every bad one you return to us" which would imply QC costs are Porsche's responsibility.

Heating failed on mine over the weekend. Called Porsche today and they had no courtesy vehicles available until 19th Feb (they said I could contact Porsche Assistance but I couldn't be bothered with another phone call and ending up with a Golf for a day or two) so I've just got it booked for 5th Feb (week today) and I'll steal my wife's car.

It's only a week or so back with me since it was in for a couple of days having the PCM update. Shame it didn't happen at the same time.

Hopefully there's no issues with the repair. They said it'd be a couple of days...

Are you required to wait until it breaks before you can get it replaced? Mine is working fine but I got the email to replace it so I’m bringing mine in since I needed to get a wheel repaired for curb rash anyway, and I have grounds to get a loaner car.

No, if you've got the email just phone them to make the booking. Your only issue might be the time they require the car for compared to for a wheel repair but you're as well getting it seen to before it fails.

The timing was just coincidence with mine. I'd have been phoning to get it booked in anyway when I clocked the email / letter about it.

If they'd been on their toes, they'd have got it done on mine when it was in for the PSM update.

Got an email from a UK Porsche Centre, that Porsche Germany need to install a new heater in my car, as recent readings from the car suggest the passenger compartment heater will fail.

Interesting that Porsche can analyse the fault from readings but the analysis during the service didn’t reveal anything.

That's good to know.

It also means if you don't hear anything then everything should be ok.

The heating in my car failed a few weeks ago, but at least Porsche are being proactive now to get in touch with customers.
