It‘s made made the longest and widest car I’ve owned quite a bit easier to manage in the urban environment we live. Pulling out of a junction on a left turn (in the UK) tight streets in town and car parks are all easier than the Tesla model Y we had before the Taycan. It must have saved a few curb rash incidents. I would always want it on a Taycan now that I’ve had it.

I'll never own another car without it. Plain and simple. Trying to steer my wife's car feels so archaic.

In Europe with tight roads, car parks etc I would add to the "must have" voices. Even though the turning circle is marginally wider, it feels almost more nimble than my 991.1 carrera was.

Ordering another 4S and wanted to know if it's worth it for rear axle steering. Driving it in Phoenix, AZ area so no real canyon or mountain driving. Just normal city streets/highway driving. Didn't have it on my 2022 Taycan and it still handled great. Is it a noticeable difference and would you get it with the type of driving I do.

Thanks.
I've driven Taycans with and without it. I like it a lot. It's great for low speed parking to maneuverability. My CPO 4S has the Performance Package and the combination of kit makes for a very satisfying car to drive.

I have to say I've never driven a Taycan without RAS. I can say our Cross Turismo with RAS has a tighter turning radius than our 2023 Mini Cooper SE. For such a small car, the turning radius of the Mini Cooper is larger than expected....

I believe the turning circle with RWS is 11.4 metres, my 986 Boxster is about the same! Our VW ID.3 is only 10.2 metres, no excuses for kerbing alloys here ?

Nothing is a must of course, but I really enjoy it, sometimes subtle, sometimes gamechanger for reduced turning circle. I think that it one of those options that should be on the shortlist for sure. If I were to order another Taycan, Porsche active ride and Rear axle steering would be on the option list for sure.

Not essential but I had it on both my 4S and GTS ST and had a great use case for it - extremely tight parallel parking manoeuvre to a wall and concrete pillar front and back which I use regularly. At this low speed the reverse turn of the rear wheels made parking feel easier.

At higher speeds I doubt you would really notice it with certainty as you are already spoiled with a supremely well set up vehicle and chassis.

U-Turns - meh - 1' reduction doesn't really justify it for me.

On balance PTV is the priority option over RAS and if budget permits then RAS is a useful tool.

I've tried on a Macan EV with RAS and didn't like the experience - Turbo demo tended to turn sharper (pushing the rear out) than you might be expecting which led to more steering input to correct. I only had the demo for a weekend but in time muscle memory would take care of that.

Not many pre-owned 4S were optioned with RAS along with the Technology and Premium packages. Does Porsche offer RAS as an after-purchase upgrade for my upcoming 2002 Taycan 4S purchase?

Wow, you've got a time machine ?.

Joking aside, no.
So are you saying Porsche does not offer RAS as a post-purchase upgrade? If so, what do you base this on? My local dealer says they will accommodate any post-purchase upgrade if it is possible, are you saying it's not possible?

OK, I don't know for 100% certainty that it's not possible, but I can pretty much guarantee Porsche will say "no". There are a whole heap of mechanical and electrical systems which will need to be upgraded and experience shows they won't want to do it. Porsche don't even support adding a passenger display which is a much more trivial job.

If possible and if Porsche would undertake the task it may be cheaper to source a car with the option factory fitted as it will cost $$$$$.

I had it on my first Taycan which was a 4S and enjoyed the experience. Back then I thought it was a must have option but today I would place it in the nice to haves.
