Perhaps too bad for them, as they sold a car with warranty, they have to repair it to original specifications, or negotiate satisfactory compensation. Repairing the car with parts with half the performance specification is failing to deliver on warranty. It would be like welding the passenger door shut to fix a leak and claiming problem is repaired.

Out of curiosity, in your educated opinion, what capacity OBC did they engineer correctly? Do you really think the 11kW OBCs are not failing?
I think Porsche has clearly answered this question by nerfing the North American 11 kW OBC's to 9.6 kW…

Maybe, maybe not. They could be counting on the am ambiguous or conflicting posted specs, like when there is a typo in an advertisement. With the 19.2kW OBC option that is not the case. Also, remembering from my Tesla days, when they nerfed some batteries due to spontaneous fires, they settled later with owners who sued. When they nerfed launch mode, by nerfing the launch power after some preset number of launches, a lawsuit forced then to unnerf the cars.

in canada, we have some alternatives to test Porsche’s ability to “nerf” my spec’ed 11kW charging rate. I am somewhat advanced in challenging them on this. I plan on sharing with the forum a more complete report on my success or failure in doing this.

Needless to say, I am frustrated by their disregard for what they promised on the purchase. And their willingness to try and pretend the standard was always 9.6 kW.

more to follow.

I'm getting 10.3-4 as a regular number here in Toronto, or North of Prince Edward County.
In both cases I'm running Grizzly 48 Amp chargers on 60 Amp circuits. If you're not getting that I suggest you pass by for a beer and we plug you in and rule out the charging circuit.

i have a ChargePoint flex 50 amp charger on a 70 amp circuit so I’m pretty sure charging capacity is not the issue. I also own, in addition to my model year25 Taycan, a model year 20 Taycan and on that car I can get the same type of results as you are quoting. Nope this is purely a Porsche created issue for model year 25 and beyond. what type of beer do you serve?

Personally I'm a Guinness Guy, but I stock Stella and Hells (a local Toronto beer that everyone loves)
I also have an extensive wine and scotch inventory

please note the 2nd picture in post #1 of this thread…showing a North American Taycan charging at more than 9.6 kW…

https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...-charger-48-amps-not-max-9-6-kw-40-amps.1793/

it's well understood Porsche used to allow 11 kW Taycan to charge at 11 kW with 60/48 amp EVSE's - it's only recently been changed to limit it to 9.6 kw in North America for no published reason from Porsche

the 10.4 kW shown is the amount of power reaching the battery due to charging loss - if you look at the raw power being delivered by the EVSE it was 11 kW as reported by multiple EVSE's including the Porsche Wall Charger sold in North America

there is no question Taycan's used to be able to charge at 11 kW in North America…
This is the info I've been looking for. I don't have enough history with my car, but reading here that NA cars do 11kW and my '22 is down at 9kW has been bugging the crap out of me for the few months that I've owned the car. Your post confirms something has changed (before I got the car), and no one really knows why it changed. Damn.
