Wow the Macan EV I last time was not to my liking because the steering wheel was huge…the diameter is much bigger than the Taycan. This loaner has sport chrono so the wheel is much smaller, probably the same size as in our Taycan. For some reason it feels faster as well. But, most importantly, the efficiency is impressive. There’s no way my TT can even come close to this one in that department. One other notable is the speedometer is spot on unlike the Taycan, which is 2.5MPH too fast, and the dealer tells me there’s nothing they can do.

The wheel IS the same on taycan and macan EV, and always was, in all trims.

The speedometers all show some 2-3mph too fast, on all cars, due to regulations / safety features.
This is also impacted by outside conditions and tire type and size.
The only macan EV that could be faster than a taycan is the turbo.

Currently have a Macan EV loaner while my Taycan is getting serviced. The only thing that I noticed was that the battery gauge does not show the battery temperature and the battery voltage shown quickly raises to about 15V After starting driving.

Of course comparing it to the Taycan is an orange apples comparison, I like my Taycan more, not an SUV type of person. Overall it is a quite good car, some smaller differences in usability (I was surprised I had to install Spotify on my own, but that was easy). If it isn‘t plagued by reliability isses (I know nothing about that car) I think it will be a huge success for Porsche.

I don't think it will be as big of a success due to the new BMW iX3 being a thing. It will poach a lot of the sales of the base model. 25% more range and a lower price point with better tech and BMW has good driving dynamics as well.

I drove all trims available at the dealer in the last 12 months (RWD, 4, 4S) for at least a full day of what I do in the Taycan including an out of town trip, bud did not pay attention to efficiency. The handling is just not there, too big, too heavy, sits too high, and only way to get any decent looking wheels are in a 22-inch size that are also heavy and counter to better handling, and while none of my examples had a PTV+ or RWS, it is just a boat when going around our city, #1 world capital of round abouts. If the handling is not there, then why it is a premium vs. the sea of just the same no lack of power utility EVs. Result, no demand locally, and there is really no supply as well.

Compare that to the dinosaur platform, our 2024 Macan GTS (ICE), that has been perfected with its old bits, and it is a joy to drive, after you get all the right things in place from factory (max it out) and then add RoarPedal (overcomes off the line lag), and then add COBB for higher curves on TQ/HP at mid RPM, and you got yourself incomparable second to none roundabout carving machine in an SUV form, with sport exhaust sounds standard on GTS.

However, anyone who is driving loaner Base Macans, certainly disappointed, so I am not really sure why it exists, since the driving is terrible, base looks are all plastic, it does not have any current tech (only recently ACC is standard) and comes with base interior materials - all below current expectations vs. any competitors for the price.

However, I cannot see myself driving an ICE car to work to downtown and then back home (30-50 min depending on when you go), Taycan is just perfect and fun every time.

The wheels are just giant looking. This is a 21 inch with all seasons.

These are 22-inch, much better looking:

Currently driving a Macan 4 EV while my 4S is being serviced (perpetually). I really like this EV. It is so much nicer than the ICE Macan. I suspect the new GTS is fantastic. Weird quirks (although maybe I haven’t figured it out yet) — no way to open the charge port door from outside the car, can’t lower the passenger side rear view mirror when reversing, and no auto-recuperation. I do think the PCM is better executed. And the car is screwed together well. Not a rattle trap like my Taycan. But the Taycan is far more fun to drive - and I prefer cars over crossovers/SUVs.

Driven the base, 4 and 4S as loaners when my Taycan was in the shop. 4S again is the sweet spot and the one I had was decently spec’s compared to the other two which had the basics. Huge look and feel difference and lacked the premium feel. I already had a 4S on order and having it as a loaner, solidified it for the wife.
It’s her daily but we use it more for the family runs as it’s a little bit more roomy and ingress and egress is easier for all. Not much of more room for the 5th passenger but more possible than the Taycan. Wished I had spec’s the 2nd tier leather as there is still a lot of plastic around. Software has its bugs and the PCM is slightly better. Overall, wife loves it. It’s selling but seeing it on the road is still a rare sight, like a Taycan CT.

I agree, the Macan came 2 years late and would have needed early next year a facelift with new tech in platform and interior to compete. These companies still don't understand EV development!

You must have meant no way to open the charge door from inside - it can only be opened from outside ! The passenger mirror can auto ‘dip‘ on reverse and the default recuperation is auto - you can switch over-run off and on. As you say, you just haven’t had time to figure these things out. Lots of owners seem to miss the one pedal driving.

Manual charger port door can only be open from the outside. The powered door can be opened from the inside via the PCM screen and touching the door towards back end to open it from the outside. It’s just the closing part, it’ll close after a few minutes on its own and no way to force it from the outside that I’ve experienced.

This maybe true in your country but not the US. Like most people who can't go anywhere without our phones, I have to have my radar detectors in all my vehicles. So, the first thing I do when I drop my car off is transfer it to the loaner. The detector has a built in GPS which shows your speed. I have had a J1.1 Tacan 4S, a J1.2 Taycan base, and 2 Macan EVs for loaners, and all but the 4S show spot on speedometer when comparing to my radar. Even my 911 is spot on as well, but it's an older one 991.1.

Also, I meant the current Macan EV seems faster than the previous one I had not faster than my TT.

It is the power charger door — can’t find any other way to open other than the PCM. I have no idea how to auto-dip the passenger mirror, and I’ve gone through every menu on the car. Maybe it is an option in the States and the dealer didn’t spec it for the loaner?
