You don’t have to refocus your eyes with the HUD. I have 20/20 vision, but not having to refocus is huge. Also, the HUD has the important information right where you need it.

The only thing that bugs me is that it gets very dim with my polarized sunglasses, but that’s just the principle of how the glasses work (Porsche would have to mount the display for reflection against a vertical instead of horizontal axis to make the light not horizontally polarized, which would be pretty silly).

I’ve played through all of them. At the end of the day the display system on the Taycan is so crisp and clear, and easy to see with the info needed at the top and center, along with the low seating position, just made the HUD a non-need for this particular car, but that’s just personal preference. ?‍♂
Absolutely personal preference. But you could change away from speed being shown twice, for example. I’ll confess that I’m not sure about height as it seems pretty adjustable and not sure why it would be different than other cars. You can even blank out the half towards the center I think so main info is further left. But if you don’t like you don’t like.

I’m still about the only one who doesn’t like HUD, particularly the way it’s implemented on the Taycan. I’ve had it on a few cars like 328i and a Mini Cooper S where things like speed was useful since it was an analog tach or the digital speed was in a little lcd screen at the bottom of the gauge cluster.

But with the way the Taycan implements it, you have two speed readouts within the same field of view, both being updated continuously, and I can’t put the HUD low enough for me that it’s not just blocking traffic in front of me.

Any lower and the hud just starts getting cut off.

oh well, didn’t spec it on the newest build. :)
I skipped HUD too. Had it on my previous car (Audi RS e-tron GT), but the combination of the clear and great visibility of the main binnacle and the (IMO) ugly hump for a HUD made the choice easy. Have not regretted it.

As I have written before, I also have trouble making the left tube really useful. My choice these days is to have road signs and analog speed there (I didn’t buy InnoDrive either by the way), but being able to choose Trip and/or Nightvision would have been nice.

Interesting, can you elaborate why? For me tire pressure is something that I check maybe once a year, or even less, and then I had to adjust the pressure even more rarely than that (on my Boxster, which also had 21" wheels).
Have two patch repairs (nails and other typical Houston road debris - place is unreal in that regard) in two of my tires - like to keep an eye out for minor pressure losses which can be a red flag to a patch failure.
Also find that in this neck of the woods I see more P variation than when I lived in more northern climbs poss. due to more extreme variation in relative temps - so tread wear and P maintenance something I just like to keep an eye on.

For info GatorZ make polarized glasses that are optimized (read compromise!) to read digital screens and thus the HUD - they are def better than std polarized glasses but still digital content still not as bright compared to non-polarized - a step up though imo if you can't live w/o polarization.

Ah, I see. But I’m not sure patch repairs are legal, or at least advisable, on a Porsche (pretty sure the manual at least says you must not do it). Patch repairs are entirely illegal (on any car) in Germany, because of the Autobahn among other things. They are legal on bicycles, but not motorbikes.

That sounds great, I will check it out, thanks.

Legal here (and again a professional plug + patch internal repair) and I never purchase Porsche wheel-tire packages.

This might help (from TireRack) re process:

Isn't there a sound anyway when driving slowly? Does turning the sports sound on make it louder?

What could you do with it?
Yes, there is normally a minor hum like all electric vehicles have, that cannot be turned off; however, the “audio engine” is distinct and of greater volume and can be enabled/disabled or programmatically associated with each drive mode (Normal, Sport, Sport Plus, Individual)

The lost Burmester panel presented the audio mode selector (Pure, Smooth, Live, Auro 3D).
