Do you guys know if anyone mentioned in the other "heater problem" threads if the heater can break again after repair/replacement? Or the new version is a "permanent" (as far as they know) fix?

Am not aware of anyone with a new design heater that has had one fail.

But equally I think the old one took a while before it became endemic.

I seem to remember at least a couple of the updated heaters failing. Just like any other part, there will be failures. Hopefully far fewer than the original design.

Da, there have been failures with changed heaters also.
@Scandinavian can confirm to you he went through several.

The updated design is not "bullet proof" sadly.

I have same problem. Do you have trouble with your battery charging as well?
Thank you!

I didn’t have any battery charging issues. Heater was sorted by a replacement unit. The new one still isn’t massively warm, not like previous cars

Yes I have been through at least 4 if not 5 heaters. Two of them failed for me in use but the others have been changed under recall.

Just this morning I was informed that at my next service booked in January, I will need to get a new replacement heater again! It looks like I need a new heater for each winter season, and I do not even live in a cold climate. We nearly never have any frost, maybe 1 or 2 nights per year, and then just a degree C or so.

It feels to me that it is the normal preparation for winter with Porsche:

WINTER =>Winter tyres
WINTER=> anti freeze in washer fluid.
WINTER =>new cabin heater!

So this will be my 3rd new design and improved heater at least.

What are Porsche up to. Seem a complete incompetent design team

Webasto have been making cabin heaters of this basic design for decades.
I suspect the problem with the Taycan version is how they deal with an 800V input!

Just fyi, my car lost heat a couple of weeks ago with the same system preheat error as above, service said it may not be the heater (they actually said it's probably not the heater). Apparently they've seen this error with other parts failing, so it seems Webasto is not the only unreliable cabin heating part Porsche is installing in their cars (my car is not even 3 years old, on second heater, 17K miles on the odometer, garaged all its life, very mild winters except for one trip). Car going into service later this week, I guess I will find out.

Well, they've been making the 800V heaters for production cars for at least 6 years now, but I guess that's not even one decade. How many decades did it take Webasto to make a reliable non-800V heater?

Guess so. Surprisingly we have something like 18 kW heater on 400 volt in our BMW i4 and I have not heard of a single one failing? And that is nearly twice the power of the Taycan’s system? And Norwegian 3rd party repairers saying it is a very reliable system?

Very surprised and disappointed.

My wife's 400V Q8 eTron heater is also holding (knock on wood) and I haven't seen any recalls on it either, and that is twice the current for the same power. Perhaps some Porsche exec channeled his inner-Trump (by substituting his own uneducated judgment above all others) and pushed for cheaper heater parts expecting half the current?

I think the error is the same for any of the many failing components of the heating system. The code will probably be different.

I brought my Taycan in for the 2-year service this morning, and they said that they will proactively replace the heater, as they received information over OTA that it was going to fail.
