The price difference of the 4S MY24 vs. MY25 is way too steep to justify IMO. If one made the decision to in May or June, the MY24 were plentiful and deeply discounted. The extra range and faster charging were not worth the cost to me. I easily have a 300 mile range on the highway for my MY24 and don't use L3 charging often enough to make it a priority.

It’s not just about range or charging speed. This model comes with several significant upgrades, including improved air suspension as standard, more power compared to last year’s version, and matrix headlights as standard. The infotainment system has been enhanced, now offering Apple CarPlay, and there’s also the option to add Active Ride. I’ve heard the underbody protection plate has been upgraded as well. Overall, I expect there are many quality-of-life improvements across various components compared to the previous model. Considering these updates, I don’t think the price increase is unreasonable, especially when you consider how much Porsche has actually upgraded the car beyond what you’d typically expect from a facelift.

Note however regarding extended CarPlay, that while it does connect much faster than before, so far I haven’t otherwise actually noticed any differences from before. What Porsche calls CarPlay plus seems to just be the app integration that is already available for all Taycans and not next gen CarPlay that one might think.

Actually, I have just checked the old configurator, if I would spec a 4S, with all the standard equipement from the new 4S this is what I have found:

Old 4S: 123.5k
New 4S: 126.8k
Difference only being +3.3k for the new 4S

What do you get for 3.3k?
- around 100 KM more range
- around 0.3 seconds faster 0-100 speed
- 10-80% charge in 18 mins compared to 22 mins
- slightly improved infotainment
- improved underbody protection
- improved air suspension
- Additional options that not available before like the PAR and HD-Matrix lights (it works in europe though, not sure in the USA)
- Other minor quality of life fixes

3.3k being less than 3% of the total vehicle value, i think the pricing is actually a great deal compared to what you get. If you think about bang for buck, there is not a single option for 3k that can give you this much improvement. Hell, the sunshine control alone is 3.5k more over the standard pano roof.

So the price increase, is objectively A-Okay. Not steep whatsoever…

Gen 2 is already discounted in UK (see my earlier post). I expect no different in NA when dealers have stock.

Higher standard spec explains some of the cost differential also.

The price increase is reasonable but when compared to a deeply discounted MY24, it is not so reasonable. My 4S was discounted 47K. My OTD price was 117K (MSRP 164K). The same MY25 4S spec would be 172K. Since there is not much of a discount on MY25’s from what I have seen, the 55K differential is pretty steep for a mid cycle refresh.

But comparing the old model to the brand new one isn’t really fair, in my opinion. It’s also not accurate to call the price difference steep. I’d argue that it’s simply a better deal to buy the older model, which has already taken a depreciation hit, instead of paying full price for something brand new. But isn’t that the case with almost everything? Why pay full price for fresh meat at the supermarket when you can find a discounted package that’s close to its expiration date?

If anything, just wait a year and pick up a lightly used, certified pre-owned (CPO) Taycan with a 30% discount. Again, it’s not a fair comparison to make against a brand-new model.

My only point was that the differences are not worth 55K IMHO - no more no less. My 4S was purchased new not pre-owned.

If you open the Porsche App from carplay you get some extra menus (climate control, lighting control, PCM music profiles, efficiency measuring screen plus some other stuff) which is quite nice but not groundbreaking, I did not try this in my previous car so it might not be a Gen2 thing. CarPlay does seem faster and more reliable.

My MY2022 had the same thing.

Traded a '17 911 Targa for the new 4S last week. While I can't compare to last gen, I can say that the car ticks all of my boxes! I had the 911 modded to about 550h. Also have a 650hp Ferrari FF and this car feels faster than both -- 3.5s to 60 feels convervative. Can't see needing or wanting the Turbo.

Having said that, what's amazing is how easy and comfortable it is to drive pianissimo, but when you do hit it in launch mode or ptp, it certainly is a head snapping experience. The car gets to speed athletically but with incredibly little fanfare. Its kind of like watching Fred Couples or Ernie Els swing a golf club.

Will be back in fla on Monday and will drive my new 25 4s for the first time. Had a 2020 4s so will give a detailed comparison.
Was tinted and had ceramic coating installed at my shop so it’s ready for my arrival !

Thanks for posting pictures. Love the pepita inserts. Very interested to hear your driving impressions as well as the comfort level of the seats. It appears that MY2025 bumped up the power in the 4S to the level of our MY2022 GTS. We are super happy with the GTS power.

Has anyone got the new updated 4S yet? If you had the original version, honestly speaking…is it the improvement that the auto journalists say? What are the highlights? is there anything that you feel they could have done better or you felt they moved backwards on?
If the battery is significantly better, it's a big improvement... Time will tell...

The usable battery's over 10% bigger. The bigger range is in part due to different wheels and tyres (I think 4% improvement from those alone was on a graphic posted on here). Charging uplift is decent enough, though anywhere in the 15-30min is OK for me I'm finding - don't use public charging that frequently, and when I do it's longer trips so the break is useful from a wellbeing pov.

Small steps but worthwhile ones if you're OK with the aesthetic changes and substantial cost to change (forget list price differences. Scant consolation if you already took a bath).

I'm happy where I am in that context.

I enjoy my 2021 4S every time I get in it. It has all the performance options then available. I is a blast to drive.

I don't need faster acceleration. I don't need more range. I don't need faster DC charging. I don't need to spend more money.
