Octopus intelligent reverse charge issue?

Hi, just had some random charges on my OI. Account. Couple of small credits then a charge of £51, then yesterday a charge of just under £1700 !!!

anyone else had this? Only been back with octopus since April 24. Had solar/ Tesla powerwall fitted in May so on their export tariff also, and OI for car charging.

Monitor my billing regularly.

not sure what’s going on? Have emailed them but can’t find a number to call at the weekend?

What does your usage history show in the app over the last couple of months? Any unusual spikes in usage?

Nothing. I monitor almost daily as I’ve been checking my export/ import. I’ve barely used any peak electric since my Tesla powerwall install. Charge cars and TPW over night then been exporting all excess solar. All the numbers look accurate .

The only time I've ever had billing issues with them has been when my Smart Meter has gone offline randomly and multiple times within a billing period (we live in a rural area but just 1/2 mile from 2 masts - go figure) and they've had to reconstruct the data. However, I've found their email responses to be pretty good, albeit you may have to wait 3-4 days, and if you give them your number to call you, they do.

Could your Smart Meter have been offline for say 12 months and previous bills estimates rather than actuals?

Yes exactly this. When the smart meter failed for whatever reason I got a shocking bill that I put in a complaint about. It was way more than it should have been and there’s no way they should do that when they struggle to read a meter. At least give notice.

Got it reversed pretty quickly and they sent out a contractor to replace the meter.

Hi, just to conclude. Apparently it was a rogue meter reading from a time I wasn’t even with octopus. Fair play to them I got through in 2 rings and it was reversed immediately.
