When the Windows machine for (MapEV Diag) was truly needed:
- Read/upload ASG info for ordering (as @prj mentioned)

Here are the numerous other times I used it (all of these are optional):
1. Read and clear fault codes
- for added piece-of-mind, cleared codes after swapping ASG module (though this may be unnecessary)
- while sound-insulating my front doors and disconnecting cables, it triggered an airbag system fault shown on the dash; MapEV Diag cleared the fault
2. with separate MapEV Flash program
- for testing OPD tune
- once more for re-flashing the original tune

Like you I have a iMac and no real PC in the house; luckily I had an old Intel Macbook Pro with Bootcamp and brought that back to life for this purpose.

Thanks @jakeCT, got my own little world of windows running on wife's MPB, had to pay MS for Windows but at least VMWare Fusion is free for private use. All set with the @prj diag app and the cable/adapter, wondering if its best to do the @ct14garage battery test first or rely on the on-board monitoring throwing a yellow ring if there was anything going on there.

Taycan is very happy with its Xmas present. Took me a while to fit, Porsche still heavy duty on bits you can't see, but didn't break anything.

Short drive just now thought hmmm, like the stronger off-pedal regen but wasn't blown away. Then put it Sport. Perfectly done, tootle about smoothly in normal, and in Sport everything is instant and it just keeps pulling. Love the duality.

My .1 is the prettiest, so I didn't need to look at her more athletic younger sisters, but a .2 less ugly 4S can be as fast as the IMNSHO fugly T?

And if one could be satisfied with the PAR less 4, it's $24K cheaper!

On a CT 4 you can get AR unlike on the Sedan and it comes out cheaper while having the more useful CT body shape.

The 4S Black edition is deffo good value as well.

But yeah a Taycan 4 with the minimal options checked that you want (and no AR) is even better priced. I just wanted a CT anyway because of the more comfortable suspension and the room in the back.

Thanks, wasn't aware of PAR being available on the CT 4, prefer the sedan and metal roof look, and don't like the sport design side skirts of the Black editions.

Don't want the dash wart, have you happened to look in PIWIS to see if the Sport Chrono functionality is enableable without optioning from the factory?

You mentioned finding four regeneration maps, would it be possible to code a switch between them with double click, after assigning to the shortcut key?

I doubt it.

No, because this info does not reach the ASG.
The ASG sees the push to pass button directly (if fitted) as well as the pedals and not much else.
Everything else is first evaluated by other control units and then the selection is sent to the ASG.
It's probably possible to map them per-mode, the switching between them is quite convoluted.

There is a large difference between changing something in the calibration and then modifying the actual code running in the ECU to do something unintended.
When you are modifying code, then at that point it doesn't matter at all anymore how many maps the ECU has stock, you could add 10 more if you wanted to.

The question is the human-machine interface. You need:
a) Some sequence of events to switch
b) Some kind of feedback as to what is selected

To be honest I don't see the point for switching regen besides on/off. The "on" can be calibrated to the heavier setting, and all the cars we can flash as many times as we want to anyway, so we can find a good setting.

I think we got a pretty nice calibration with @PhillyTCT4S - we did about 8 flashes back and forth until we found the sweet spot, and I've since used this calibration in a few other cars with good feedback from the customers.

The regen is about 2.5-3x higher than stock, but seems to work quite well.

I'd say the higher regen works very well, I was ok with auto-regen but prefer this now. Nice bonus is that the Taycan's regen on is now consistent with our ID.3's B regen.

Regen is just a part of it, now that I've had good driving time in different situations I find the car much better in many ways, gives me more confidence, I forget how it was before

Yep, after several flashbacks my regen is so much better. Not Tesla Y but close. Good thing if I dont need it I can just switch off completely or switch on Auto. For me in daily traffic its perfect now.

Shout out to Dmitri and PhillyTCT4S for iterating on the regen mapping. I just flashed my GTS with Philly's regen and it is really, really good. For context, my wife drives a Rivian R1S, so I am accustomed to substantial regen.

Love that I can turn it on and off and love that the MapEV tune lets me dial the car in so easily.

I am glad it worked for you. Took us some time with that regen mapping. I was jumping between my Cross Turismo and wifes Tesla Y several times a day just to feel the difference. Glad Dmitri was so helpful. I know its not for everyone but my wife drives Tesla and in this case its really close to how Tesla regen driving feels. In a city traffic driving it works really well for me. Main thing is that you can switch it off if you dont like it.

Jaguar iPace regen feel is also notably well calibrated (likely better than Tesla) if anyone wanted a better tuning benchmark...

I prefer it to the regen my Tesla had, the pedal lift-off retardation blends nicely with brake pedal regen, no head nodding that I remember from my Tesla. Latest model Y has blended and adjustable regen I understand, probably very good.

For me the idea was to bring regen in Taycan as close as possible to our other car, Tesla Y so when wife takes my car she feels more familiar with the driving characteristics.

And yes, the regen in 2026 Tesla Y is much better compared to our old 2021 car plus suspension is on another level too.

When we talk about more regen here, are we specifically talking about what happens to the car when you let go of the acc pedal? I always use recuperation on, not auto or off, and I think it feels very natural to engine braking. Or are we talking about regen under braking?
