Noob question - I have a cpo turbo s, rear tire has a nail. Les Schwab patched it, but it’s near the side and seemed concerned. They can’t get a replacement?

where do y’all get your tires? Dealer?
North of Seattle.
Thx!
Pretty much what @WasserGKuehlt said. I've done all my cars at Discount Tire for the last couple of decades. One time recently I ended up going through TireRack.com and delivered for installation to Discount Tire, because DT didn't have the tires I wanted on their website. They told me later that had I called them direct, they would have been able to order the same tires/wheels too, so next time I will try that route first after checking the tire prices on Porsche.com (easy automated quotes sent direct to dealer, I went that route for my current winter tires as their price was competitive - I assume you already tried this and didn't find what you want).

Costco for tires. Free install now too. Plus Costco is effectively local to us in the NW.
I always buy Michelin as replacement meats. Why? They budget a larger amount of profit to research and development than other manufacturers thus a step ahead. Consumer Reports often has them rated at or next to the top ranking.

I like Discount Tire for local work, and TireRack for “challenging” finds. Since DT is now owned by/in partnership with TireRack, you can search online and have it delivered locally.
Agree. Also, I think it’s a good idea to get the tire replaced if you’re going to do any spirited driving.

FYI for north I-5, BC 99 travelers. A new EA station opening soon at the southern Bellingham Fred Meyer one block off Lakeway Drive exit on east side of freeway. Next to their gas station. Lotsa manuevering space plus scads of services to walk to within one block. It appears completed but wrapped with caution tape awaiting...?
Go on the EA app, in the filter toggle on "coming soon" then you can ask app to notify you when it opens. Doesn't show up on "My Porsche" yet in spite of status.

thanks! the bellingham one is always busy and you get lucky not having to wait. Petro Canada has a great network on the other side of the border - love the idea of installing at a gas station with the services around them

I saw this being advertised as 'soon' for a couple of months now. I think Bham badly needs more high-speed charging - the one on Bakerview is essentially a lottery. (On my return trip Saturday, I got lucky - 1 of 4 available, delivered 192kW.)

Hello PNW taycan owners, a quick question about charging (as a new Taycan owner). I live in Snohomish County and found out that there is no "time-of-the-day" rate for electric usage at all. Given that, should I just charge the car up to 85% after work (charging period likely to be 7pm to 12am as I had 80A installed), *or* should I do the overnight charging thing such as 2-7am time frame? Does it make any difference in any way?

Technically charging at the end of your driving slightly better for the battery than letting it cool off then charging, but the effect is negligible. There has been some research recently showing more shallow charging vs. less deep charges is also slightly better (something to do with some crystals inside not having to grow/shrink as much).

All that said, these are small effects with AC charging speeds, so I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. I generally charge the Taycan to 85% (Porsche recommended daily charging max) every time the car comes back to the garage. Had 4 Teslas before this, all were charged to 90% daily (Tesla recommended ) - got minimum degradation even over 8 years (oldest one we had). Have an eTron today too, charging it to 80% (per Audi recommendation).

Perfect, I'll just let it start charging as soon as I get home then. Thanks for the suggestion!

Welcome @seattlefox. I’ve set my home charging profile to:
- 35% min, to reach asap whenever i plug it in
- 12am to 7am preferred interval (just so as not to interfere with other potential high consumers), MThu
- 80% target (85% during the winter)

The charging algorithm seems to be “greedy” ie reach the target asap in the first window. That’s a bit annoying at times - I’m not driving it at the weekend much, so if I plug in Thu evening it will be ready for Monday by 4am Fri morning. ?

Is it an issue at all if your home electric capacity allows maximum concurrent usage? If it doesn't matter, and the electric rate is flat, I don't see any reason to opt out of greedy charging to 85%.

Similarly, it doesn't feel to me a bad thing if just let it get ready asap. Well this is assuming having the car sit with 85% battery for a couple of days won't do any harm by any means...
