Poor range 2021 Model 4S

My 2021 4S starts with a range of 220 miles on a full charge. I drive in the Range mode and by the time I drive 125 miles, my remaining range is about 50 miles. Is anyone else experiencing such poor range? Range was starting at 270 on a full charge before a recent software update.

What battery do you have PB or PB+?
Do you know what is your SoH to detect usable battery capacity? Need OBD to read it.
Do you know if you have any battery cell issues? Need OBD to read cell voltages and SoC.
What is your ambient temperatures that you are driving in?
What is your driving route highway, city, or mix?
What type of wheel and tire setup you have as rolling resistance has impact?

I do not see any issue with your range of 175 miles in a worst-case scenario when it is cold, and you drive on a highway with a small PB battery.

I do not see any issue with your range of 175 miles in a worst-case scenario when it is cold, and you drive on a highway with a small PB battery.

I have the smaller battery and it is cold here in Albuquerque.

Then I would say this is expected range on a 4S with a standard battery under the conditions you are describing.

The scenario that many people don’t take into account is that the projected range is based on the temp the vehicle is reading at start up. Often times, your garage is much warmer than the actual outside temp. Therefore the true expected range is only known when you start driving.

I have a similar model and year. With the heater on, seat warmers, etc., you can expect a significant decrease in range. Like the OP, I operate in cold, higher altitude conditions. Not unusual to see a drop in range.

As an example, it was 45 degrees in my garage at startup. This was today’s temp in the parking lot at work. Needless to say, my range was recalibrating during my commute.

what a shame, you could have saved a lot of money buying a lesser car if you are going to limit your speeds this way. if I know that my daily driving needs are not going to be beyond my range capabilities I would drive the car as fast as I could while remaining safe.

You are offering great advice, when temps drop your TP will be greatly reduced. when temps got cooler here in FL my TP dropped 8lbs.
