let me get this right. After the 3y sub I will lose the ability to remote start heating without resubscribing. Man that's really poor show on Porsche.
You can add it on to the cost of the extended warranty and extending the charging service.

Suddenly, it can make more sense to ditch the car after 3 years and put the money towards a new (non Porsche) car.
Really wish I had just leased it now for 3 years. It's a liability.

Would be nice to get something else, new....
No warranty / connected Drive / service / tyres / MOT etc for a while.

I have read the Porsche Connect product content and I think there is a lot more in this subscription and these features will stop if you were to stop the subscription. This includes:
  1. NavigationPlus
  2. Finder
  3. Risk radar
  4. Porsche charging planner
  5. Voice pilot
  6. RadioPlus
  7. News
  8. Good to know - instruction booklet Plus
  9. Spotify
  10. agenda
  11. Weather
  12. E-check
  13. Climate Control Service
  14. Car control
  15. Car finder
  16. Speed alarm
  17. Automatic alarm
  18. Open and close
  19. Travel control
  20. Location alarm
  21. Valet alarm
  22. Honk and flash
Marked in red are the parts for which you have already paid as an option during purchase.

And it would be nice if those who have not renewed Porsche Connect could indicate which of the functions no longer work.

It gas been two months since Porsche Connect has been off. The only thing I miss is the pre heating / cooling function but that is not worth $329 US/Year to me. I am not sure what happens if Porsche releases an over-the-air update that adds new features or fixes safety issues. Seems like they would have to make such updates available at a dealer but I don't know.

The heating function works fine for me without Connect.

Just ressurecting this thread to say if you don't have Porsche Connect, you can't use Octopus Intelligent tariff. Octopus needs it to access/control the car.

Worth it for £269 a year to Porsche? Not really if you don't need the other things Connect gives you.

I may have to look at other electricity providers.

That’s not entirely true. I‘m on the Octopus Intelligent Go tarrif and use the car’s inbuilt timers to charge during the cheap 23:30 - 05:30 window. I’ve never allowed Octopus to control charging via my Porsche account.

My Taycan turned 3 years old last month. I pondered over renewing the Connect subscription but didn't use it much other than checking the battery level and operating the aircon. At £270 a year I decided I could do without it.

But I hadn't reckoned on charging the car - it then lost connection with Octopus. It doesn't use the Porsche account but just needs to communicate with the car, amongst other things to find out the state of charge. Once your Porsche subscription lapses, it can no longer connect with it.

The Octopus Intelligent tariff is a smart charging one. It allows Octopus to control the charging of the car. This gives them the ability to balance the grid and use low cost (or sometimes free) energy when there's an over-supply. That's why it's only 7p per kWh.

You're supposed to do a smart charge at least once a month, otherwise you revert to Octopus's Go rate, 8p. Not a big deal? Well, you only get that rate for 5 hours a night.

Not a big deal? IOG 6 hours @7.4 kW/hr = 44.4 kWh charged, compared with 5 hours @7.4kW/hr = 37 kWh. So you have to charge more often. Again, may not be a big deal if you're topping up to an 85% charge.

What gets me is paying £270 a year to get the best rate. And this is mainly for the privilege of using Porsche's servers. I'd bet it costs them less than a £1 a year to maintain, so it's quite a money spinner for them.

They usually offer 20% off the price as part of black Friday.

I understand people think its expensive - but no different to BMW - they do exactly the same - it all ends after 3 years. Then you have to pick and choose what you want to keep - map updates at X amount, live traffic at X amount.

I renewed mine and moaned for several days about the price. Now I don't think about it...

Thanks for the info about BMW. I didn't know they charge the same. We're all living in captive markets.

I've asked my OPC if they've got any promo codes

When I last did it for my BMW M2 it cost £99 for the year.

The Taycan was £269 in August.

Same thing - just doesn't work properly in the Porsche, but costs more.

I see your point.

However, worth noting I haven’t smart charged in 10 months and I’m still on Octopus’ cheapest 7p/kWh 6hr “Intelligent Go” tariff.

Also not too concerned about loosing Porsche Connect services as I have a MyEnergy Zappi charger which also qualifies for the Intelligent Go tariff.

may have been mentioned already but if you have one of the compatible EVSEs (ones shown here) then the Octopus intelligent Go tariff can control the ESVE and not the car, so you don't need Porsche Connect active
