I don't get it. Extended warranty for 2 extra years runs about $3K-$6K, depending on who is selling it, so let's say the warranty wholesale cost is $4K. With Porsche pricing, is it really worth while to advertise a price $4K lower but with lower warranty? Or, is Porsche mindset that they are selling to customers who have so much money, they explicitly don't want insurance or warranties, as they are self-insured for everything (including cars breaking down)? If I was a billionaire and had a stable of 100+ cars, I would also choose to be self insured (even for accidents), but is that really the majority of Porsche's customers?
2 years of warranty is just standard in Europe, not just for cars.

The warranty periods are mostly 2 years in Europe for most German cars. The UK seem to have 3 years warranty on Porsche, but the 3rd year is funded by Porsche GB?? There are many Korean cars and Chinese cars that give much longer warranty, 5 ,6 or 7 years.

Porsche has always been very on warranty terms and are actively selling their extended warranty. Guess it also is a way to keep the cars to be serviced at Porsche dealers?

So is providing a factory warranty.

Extended warranty, at least in the US, is an insurance product, typically provided by an independent entity (even if that entity has the manufacturer's name in it, for example Toyota Motor Credit who offers financing is separate from Toyota the manufacturer). Some extended warranties will even steer customers to third party shops, if that means a lower payout.

In Europe the extended warranty is a porsche product.

Are you sure? Do you buy it direct from Porsche or from the dealer?
It is a Porsche product through Porsche Financial Services, but it is an assurance, through Real Garant Versicherung AG ( part of Zurich?? I believe). It is stated as an assurance here in France at least. It is with the Porsche logo etc. The dealer is an authorised signature for them.

You buy it direct from Porsche, it is visible in PIWIS and valid worldwide.
Porsche buys the product from an insurance company.

My Taycan is only 26 months old with 30,000 km, and the high-voltage battery control unit just failed. Porsche says it’s not covered by warranty and wants €4,800 to replace it 😡
Belgian car, not a German import? Years ago, I had a problem with an Audi that was out of warranty, but because it was quite common, they showed goodwill and I only had to pay for the parts (which meant I paid less than half the price). I had this in mind: even though your car is out of warranty, they can always intervene with repairs, especially if you bought and maintained it at an authorized dealer. It would be sobering if they stopped doing it now, or perhaps Porsche dealerships never did?

Either way, in Europe it's central by Porsche. If you get the Porsche Appproved warranty then it is fully transferrable, and you can extend it until the car is 15 years old.
It is valid worldwide, and it is in PIWIS. So for the dealer they just perform the work and bill Porsche for it, just like on a car with the standard warranty.

For the customer it means that they do not have to ever pay the repair fee or worry about the claims, everything is handled by the dealer. The only difference is that some items are not covered - e.g. acoustic defects that do not affect the function of the car (rattles).

However, creaks and noises in suspension components are covered. I had the typical creaking noise from the front bushings and it was covered by Approved. The dealer told me at start Porsche did not always want to cover it, but in our country this is an inspection failure, so they had to cover it.

They may do but the extended warranty is covered by this company. Also valid for so many others as you can see
https://realgarant.com/de-de/unternehmen/referenzen/
When I got the partial refund for my extended Porsche warranty, it was all handled through the dealer (as agent) and was a right PITA taking all the documents etc.

The dealer then said they will forward it on to PCGB.

The (eventual) bank credit came from:

Correct even if i’m not sure what do you mean with “fully transferable?”
I bought additional 3 years, then i sold the car after a year, so warranty goes with the car, to the new owner since i haven’t received any refund for the next 2 years.

@Scandinavian i have papers signed by Porsche Versiherungs.

I find it very surprising. I grew up in Europe, and I remember Mercedes having the reputation of most reliable car. Other German cars got good reputation by association. Then I moved to Canada, at one point in my life I got to a point where I could afford a new Merc, so I go to the dealer and find out their warranty (3 years IIRC) was shortest of all cars I was looking at! Ended up with an Acura IIRC (I used to swap cars every 2 years at most back then). Then back in 2000 I remember ordering my first Porsche, it came with 4 years of warranty, so I assumed it was just Mercedes that went cheap and therefore couldn't afford 4 year warranties. Then I read things like this. Porsche charging a quarter of a million dollars (or more) and only warrantying the car for 2 years? I get wearables, like tires, even brakes, but everything goes out of warranty after 2 years? That is ridiculous. No wonder they are losing marketshare to the Chinese or even US upstarts.
I was never a fan of Chinese manufacturers, but at this point I’m seriously considering getting one. They’re much cheaper and come with longer warranties. European brands have just become too greedy. This was my third Porsche and definitely my last.
Unfortunately, here in Belgium we’re almost forced to go electric, which makes the situation even more frustrating.
26 months old?
It should still be under warranty.
When did you buy your car and was it new?
And which Porsche center is it?

I bought the car brand new at Porsche Center Antwerp. They informed me that they contacted Porsche Belgium, who confirmed that the issue is not covered by warranty.
