While visiting my Porsche dealer today I learned that out of approximately 8,000 Taycan delivered to the United States a total of 9 have had the power loss issue. If my math is correct that's one tenth of one percent. What I am not sure of it how many of the 8,000 are subject to the recall. The only thing I know for sure is as of today mine is not one of them.

This was probably numbers from April.
There are about 10,373 Taycans in the US affected by the recall

Today there are 46 NHTSA complaints about power loss in the NHTSA side.

Figure the number of incidents is significantly higher than the number of people who have taken the trouble to document the issue on the NHSTA site and you have an occurrence rate that is pretty high - certainly better than 1/100.

I know that's the number reported by NHTSA but Porsche disagree with that number because according to Porsche's records only 6,552 2020-20211 Taycan have be built and shipped to the U. S. thought the first quarter of this year. Porsche has no idea where NHTSA is getting their numbers from but they are wrong. I personally put little faith in the accuracy of anything reported by a Government Agency.

How do you know that Porsche disagree? Where did you see that?

According to NHTSA documents 12,146 Porsche Taycan's could be effected by the loss of power while driving but Porsche is contesting that number stating that it has delivered a total of 6,552 Taycan's from 2020-21 model years in the U. S. through the end of the first quarter of this year. Porsche said it wasn't sure where NHTSA's figure came from but it bears no relation to the number of Taycan's in this country, either sold or in transit or in inventory."

This information comes from the July 2021 issue of Panorama magazine. Page 30.

I'm just telling you what I've been told by a Porsche representative. I'm not verifying its accuracy.

not quite true, you repeated an out of date comment from a PR flack in a porsche sponsored magazine. do you realize that july issue of the magazine was probably compiled in may or earlier?

We can debate how many were delivered, but I hope we can all agree there has been far more than 9 people impacted. We have more than 9 on THIS forum.

That's their official party line.

Many dealers, as reported here and by my personal experience, claim that they're unaware of the recall, or that they have never had a customer have such a power issue. Even when I know they have Taycans stuck in their shop awaiting new parts/software fixes due to power loss / powertrain errors. The various folks here who mentioned their cars crapping out -- some also mentioned where they bought their cars. Feel free to call up those dealerships and ask them if they've had customers lose power... I did for one of the midwest dealers, who of course said he has never heard of it.

I felt better w/ the NHTSA denominator. If Porsche claims the actual # of cars is lower, well, that's a higher incidence ratio then.

Doesn't Porsche collect these errors online, so shouldn't they know exactly the numbers?

If Porsche made a recall and owned up to the problem, why would they fake numbers?
