But surely the car is still under Porsche warranty? The car is from October 2023 as I understood it. Then clearly Porsche should have the responsibility. The dealer seems an awkward one to be sure.
The warranty is backed by an insurance policy. Extended ones certainly are. Not sure who underwrites either or whether same entity.

Certainly the extended warranty loses trade-in value if it is claimed on and then you sell the car to main dealer.

Extended ones are backed by an insurer but still with Porsche name, at least here in France. During the warranty period it is the manufacturer warranty. Hee in France that is only 2 years for Porsche, but I believe there is 3 years in the UK?

The car is still under the new car warranty which I believe is provided by Porsche.

Thanks for all the responses.

Porsche HQ are due to call me tomorrow. I will see what they say but will follow the approach described above should they not agree to the repair under warranty immediately.
Do you mind sharing the dealership name?

Most car dealerships (not just Porsche) in UK are quite poor in customer service - unless you know someone in the dealership or are a long standing customer. Even then, it is not what it used to be.
The concept of a premium experience with premium car manufacturers has long left the UK… it is a sad reality, it is now all about margins.

2. you pay for the work to be done then take them to small claims court for breach of warranty.
You guys in the UK must have high limits for what constitutes "small claims" if a major Porsche repair like swapping out the steering rack qualifies.

Just to update, Porsche HQ have confirmed they are looking at the issue and hope to respond early next week. I assume they are trying to figure out if they have the confidence to stand behind the centre.

Will keep you posted

I feel like that almost everyone from Europe who has a warranty claim goes through hell trying to get it honored. In the US, it's usually a pretty easy process when something is obviously a warranty issue. That tiny bit of curb rash is a ridiculous excuse for them to say that the issue stemmed from that slight impact. It's almost like, by law, a dealership in Europe has to cover half the cost of a warranty claim or something.
Nope, had a few claims which were perfectly coped with.

Same for me. I have had a few and there has never been any problems from Porsche. They have handled all the warranty work professionally and as quickly as they cou;d get parts.

Porsche have confirmed it’s not warrantable in their opinion so I’m onto the next stage. I did notice the scuff looks worse in bright sunlight but it’s still very minor in my opinion but wanted to add a fresh picture to make sure I’m not going mad.

the Leicester centre ere now saying they did get a real error code so I’ve asked for that in writing and that Roma ung the steering g rack will resolve the issue. That is a change from immutable error they told me before.

does anyone have experience with the ombudsman? Or shall I just go with small claims court?

again all opinions welcomed and thanks again.

that's a very minor scratch with hardly any metal chipped off. Our was way way worse and it didn't cause any issue with the PS. Not totally related, but we even bent the wheel on our 911 and it didn't cause any PS issue.

This is so ridiculous I can’t believe how bad they are being here.

The fos can sometimes take a while to review cases. You can always do both as the fos doesn’t cost you anything. The upside of the fos is the fca monitor fos complaints too many and they will intervene.

Small claims court, as they issue proceedings based on your just submitting them into the website immediately although a court date might take some time.

Porsche will not want the publicity around the case in a small claims court - which I would threaten them with also.

I don’t think it would get to court they would have to settle it isn’t worth their while going to court. It costs big organisations more to defend themselves even if they were right - they will just settle.

if you do small claims look up who is the ceo of the insurance company under writing the warranty and put the small claim in against him that will get their attention. Good luck!!!
