It is nonsense. Those dealers are lying to you. Do your own homework.
A bit condescending?
With all due respect, in addition to research online, it was confirmed by both a Porsche sales guy, and a Porsche tech on two separate occasions and different dealerships. However, your opinion has been noted and duly taken with a pinch of salt.

Funnily enough there is a similar argument ongoing on a BMW forum I visit, with regard BMW * rated tyres.

Someone posted this up (admitted it makes little sense to me) which supposedly shows the differences.

Are the Goodyear F1s NF0 better than the Pirellis? I have them on my RS wheels but haven’t used them yet.
I cannot imagine how they could be as bad, let alone worse. They must last longer.

The Pirelli’s are wearing out at the front in 12,000 miles in gentle driving.
Perhaps the Good Years are less good on dry track handling but that is irrelevant to most.
I can’t imagine the Good Years destroying the handling.
If you are interested in Track days with Pirellis the outside front corner tyre will only last one aggressive track day.
That makes track days expensive!

Thanks for all the feedback and comments. I will run the Pirellis down over the summer as I assume all 4 will be at the limit by then. Looking at the report the fronts were not flagged but only a 0.3 mm difference to the rears.

I will look into some Michelin PS4 ?

Might consider a set of winter tyres and cheaper rims for next Winter.
I have had good performance from my PS 4 tyres. The rear ones are now at about 5.8 mm, after 12 000 miles (20 000 km). The inside edges are however taking a bigger hit and will ultimately be the deciding factor for when to replace.

The new Hankook iON line of tyres are on my short-list when the Michelin needs to be replaced.

I have the stock Continental ProContacts on my '21 RWD. I'm at 24k miles and still plenty of tread left, though I have not measured. I generally drive fairly conservatively except for some quick turns on local streets which squeal the tires.

Interested to hear other people's experiences with rear tyre wear. My '23 Taycan CT is in for several recall items and the Porsche Center has just advised me that my rear tyres are 60% worn at just 7000 miles and asked if I would like them replaced for £733!

They are Pirelli 285/40/20 Y and my normal driving is country roads and A-roads. I know the winter has been poor but still. For me this is pretty poor, but interested to hear what others are getting out of the factory-fitted set?

I should say the fronts are fine.

Also any recommendations for replacement?
Hi,

I use the OEM Pirelli Zeros on 21">7C and the OEM Pirelli Zeroes M&S on 20" <7C. I've been getting 10-12,000 miles per tyre. My Taycan is a Turbo S Cross Turismo and driven to enjoy (e.g. 52,000 in 2 years in 9 countries).

I'd thought this was OK. A bit worse that my previous Audi R8 v10 Plus, but a lot better than the tyre dealer's customers with Maserati's which average about 6,000 miles apparently!

I’m at 17K miles and sitting just about at the wear bars (around 5/32, or 4mm).

I have the PZero Elec OEM summer tires. Really no complaints, and that feels like decent wear. I even did a track day at COTA early on.

For replacement, my priorities are
1) Tire Noise
2) Tire Noise
3) Wet traction
4) Dry traction

From reviews, seems like the PS4’s aren’t nec more quiet than the PZ ELEC. There are versions of both PS4 and PZ that have noise reduction tech in them (i.e foam).

Anyone have any experience with these?
