This is the most frustrating part of the Taycan. Porsche needs to simplify this.

Let me set the battery limit, and the preferred charging window. No timers. Use the "Direct Charge" to go to 100% ASAP.

They over complicated this.
5 years on and this whole setup still sucks. I've had my Taycan for 6 months and still am not sure which settings over ride others, or if my car will charge during a time slot, to a percentage or at all. Porsche really needs to look at how Rivian and Tesla do this, so much more intuitive and useful.

I would guess that nearly all the time, nearly all the drivers just want to be able to set the charging time window and stop when battery hits xx%.

What is your use case that you cannot figure out how to setup?

5 mins reading the Owner's manual (2 days reading the copious volumes of War and Peace on this topic on this forum) would no doubt help.

Operation and usage is a doddle really IMHO.

I've been an owner since 2020 (first EV) and not had the "this sucks" moment, ever in respect of charging at home I did however make some schoolboy errors in the early days and using the Owner's Manual enhanced my understanding.

  • Always charges to at least 25% target when plugged in
  • Charges to 100% target if no timers and no profiles, or if you have a profile with preferred times and no timer, or if direct charge
  • Charges to min profile setting immediately if set to optimized
  • Charges to timer target at departure time working backwards from departure time based on EVSE power
    • If you have a profile with preferred times, it will utilize as much of that time as possible and allow it to be disjoint with the rest of the timer charging.
