I should start off by saying if there’s an active thread on this, please link me to it. In the Google searching I’ve been doing I get tayanforum references but not really finding the answers. I’m looking for. Like why Porsche is so quiet on this important subject.
For those in Canada and US: For the last couple of months, it seemed each week someone else had jumped on board with the NACS. I’m not going to list them all but it seems all the big players are adopting Tesla’s charging plug and welcoming them to the vast supercharging network.
I’m not saying I can’t get by with CCS as we don’t do a lot of road trips, and we probably would be fine, but I have found popping into hotels and requiring 3rd party charging accounts and things just seems like a bit of a hassle, so I generally just wait till next day and go to a supercharger. No additional account no problem.
1) Why hasn’t there been a peep from Porsche on adopting this new NACS standard?
2) what are the chances of them retrofitting the old plug to older Taycans? I’m thinking slim to none and I am an optimistic guy.
my wife really wants to try something different and likes the idea of the Porsche Taycan and thinks we can make the charging work for road trips, but it would be great to utilize the superchargers.
The other side of all this is the busy superchargers we visited often I have a dual generic, DC charger all there by its lonesome, which we could just plug into.
